The University of Tulsa (TU) is a private research university in Tulsa,Oklahoma. It has a historic affiliation with the Presbyterian Church and the campus architectural style is predominantly Collegiate Gothic. The school traces its origin to the Presbyterian School for Girls,which was established in 1882 in Muskogee,Oklahoma,then a town in Indian Territory,and which evolved into an institution of higher education named Henry Kendall College by 1894. The college moved to Tulsa,another town in the Creek Nation during 1904,before the state of Oklahoma was created. In 1920,Kendall College was renamed the University of Tulsa.

Alma Bell Wilson was an Oklahoma attorney who was appointed as the second female district judge in the state of Oklahoma in 1975. In 1982,she was elevated as the first woman to serve on the Oklahoma Supreme Court and between 1995 and 1997 was the first woman chief justice. Wilson was honored by many awards in her lifetime including induction into the Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame,the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and was named Appellate Judge of the Year in both 1986 and 1989.
Barbara Cook Green Swinton is a judge on the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals. She was appointed to the appellate court by Governor Mary Fallin on September 14,2016,to replace Judge Bill Hetherington,who retired from District Four,Office One on September 2,2016. Prior to her appointment,Judge Swinton served as district court judge for the 7th Judicial District,beginning in 2002.

Phillip Neal "Phil" Butler is a retired United States Navy officer and pilot. He was the eighth-longest-held U.S. prisoner of war (POW) held in North Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Butler,who was forced to eject after a mid-air explosion on April 20,1965,was a prisoner of war in North Vietnam until his release as part of Operation Homecoming in 1973. Butler was one of the five POWs credited with establishing the tap code. The code enabled the prisoners to communicate with each other.
