Paul Lundsten (born August 11,1955) is an American lawyer and retired judge. He served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Wisconsin Department of Justice and as a judge on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals for the Madison-based District IV court serving 24 counties.
Lundsten was born on August 11,1955,in La Crosse,Wisconsin. [1] He earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1980,and went on to obtain his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School graduating with honors in 1983.
The same year he graduated from law school,Lundsten was hired by Bronson La Follette,then Wisconsin's Attorney General,to serve as an Assistant Attorney General in the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Lundsten would continue to work as an assistant attorney general until his appointment to the Court of Appeals in 2000,serving under two more attorneys general:Don Hanaway and Jim Doyle. At the Department of Justice,he was initially assigned to the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. [2] Over his 17 years at the department,he worked on various fraud investigations and consumer protection cases,becoming a specialist in handling criminal cases before state and federal appellate courts,including 25 cases he argued before the State Supreme Court. [3]
On October 31,2000,Governor Tommy Thompson appointed Lundsten to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals to replace retiring Judge William Eich. [4] Judge Lundsten was elected to a full term in 2001,defeating attorney Charlie Schutze,and was subsequently re-elected without opposition in 2007 and 2013.
In his contested 2001 race,he was endorsed by a broad coalition of Republicans and Democrats,including then Republican Governor Tommy Thompson and then Democratic State Attorney General Jim Doyle.
In 2019 he announced he would not seek a fourth term. He retired from the court July 31,2019. [5]
Lundsten is married with three children. [1] Lundsten has completed several marathons and has qualified for the Boston Marathon,running that race in 1996.

In his first election to the governorship, he narrowly defeated incumbent Republican governor Scott McCallum. Although in 2002 Democrats increased their number of governorships, Doyle was the only one of them to unseat a Republican.

Steven M. Biskupic is a former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin serving under Attorneys General John Ashcroft, Alberto Gonzales and Michael Mukasey. He was appointed by George W. Bush in May 2002. Prior to his appointment, Biskupic served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for 13 years, specializing in the prosecution of white-collar crime. James Edward Doyle Sr. was an American lawyer and jurist from Madison, Wisconsin. He served 22 years as a United States district judge for the Western District of Wisconsin, from 1965 until his death in 1987. Earlier in his life, as a former member of the disbanded Wisconsin Progressive Party, he played an important role in reshaping the Democratic Party of Wisconsin in the 1950s, and was the father of Jim Doyle, the 44th governor of Wisconsin.
David G. Deininger is a retired Republican politician and jurist from Wisconsin. He served as a judge on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals for eleven years, from 1996 to 2007, and now serves as a reserve judge. He was the first chairman of the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board, appointed by Democratic Governor Jim Doyle. Earlier in his career, he served three and a half terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing parts of Green and Rock counties, and was a Wisconsin Circuit Court Judge in Green County.
Edward R. Brunner is an American lawyer and retired judge. He was a judge of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals from 2007 through 2011 in the Wausau-based District III. Previously, he was a Wisconsin Circuit Court Judge for 19 years, and was Chief Judge of the 10th District of Wisconsin Circuit Courts from 1999 through 2005.
Daniel L. LaRocque is a retired American lawyer and judge. He was a Judge of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals for twelve years after serving as a Wisconsin Circuit Court Judge in Marathon County. Prior to his judicial service, he was district attorney for Marathon County for 13 years.
Brad Schimel is an American lawyer, judge, and Republican politician. He was the 44th attorney general of Wisconsin, serving from 2015 to 2019. He was defeated seeking re-election in 2018, and was subsequently appointed a Wisconsin circuit court judge in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, by Governor Scott Walker. Schimel is seeking election to the Wisconsin Supreme Court in the 2025 Spring election. He also previously served as district attorney of Waukesha County.

Martin Joseph Donald is an American lawyer and a judge of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals in the Milwaukee-based District I. Donald was appointed to the court in September 2019 by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers. Prior to his appointment to the Court of Appeals, Donald served 13 years as a Wisconsin Circuit Court judge in Milwaukee County.
Jill Judith Karofsky is an American attorney who has served as a justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court since 2020. Karofsky served as a Wisconsin Circuit Court judge in Dane County from 2017 until her 2020 election to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
