Payal Shakya is a Nepalese-born Australian model. She is the winner of Miss Nepal 2004, which was held in Birendra International Convention Center, Kathmandu. [1] [2] She is currently residing in Sydney, Australia. She works at Optus. While she was Miss Nepal, Payal worked to save the wetlands and rhinos. She was also the ambassador for Cancer Relief Society. [3]

On 21 November 2011, Payal married the lead singer of Uglyz Band, Sarun Tamrakar in Sydney. [4] [5]

Amanda Carter is an Australian Paralympic wheelchair basketball player. Shakya qualified for the women's 100 m breaststroke at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by receiving a Universality place from FINA, in an entry time of 1:34.99. She challenged seven other swimmers in heat one, including Bolivia's Katerine Moreno, who competed at her third Olympics since 1988. She posted a lifetime best of 1:32.92 to edge out Rwanda's Pamela Girimbabazi for a seventh seed by nearly 18 seconds. Shakya failed to advance into the semifinals, as she placed forty-seventh overall in the preliminaries.

Miss Grand Nepal 2016 was the first edition of the Miss Grand Nepal beauty pageant, held on August 23, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kathmandu, organized by Mero Looks and Revolution Pvt. Ltd. Ten national aspirants competed for the title, of whom a 24-year-old Mass communication student from Kathmandu, Zeenus Lama, was named the winner, and received रु50,000 Rupee cash as the prize while the first and second runners-up, Pooja Shrestha of Lalitpur and Jyotsana Maharjan of Bharatpur, obtained रु25,000 and रु10,000 Rupee, respectively. The event was attended by Claire Parker, Miss Grand International 2015, and the Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal, Vutti Vuttisant.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Miss Grand Nepal 2020</span> 4th Miss Grand Nepal competition, beauty pageant edition

Miss Grand Nepal 2020 was the fourth edition of the Miss Grand Nepal beauty pageant, held on August 13, 2020, at the Mojo Boutique Hotel in Baneshwor, Kathmandu. Ten contestants competed for the title, of whom a 21-year-old medical student from Chitwan, Ambika Joshi Rana, was named the winner and crowned by Miss Grand Nepal 2019, Nisha Pathak. She then represented Nepal on the parent stage, Miss Grand International 2020, held in Thailand on March 27, 2021, but she went unplaced.
