Pedro Campos Calvo-Sotelo (born 6 March 1955) [1] is a Spanish sailor who has competed in multiple America's Cup and Volvo Ocean Race campaigns.
Campos was Vaurien World Champion in 1976 and raced in different classes, including the Snipe, Dragon, Star, 470 and 420 classes. [2]
Campos established a Spanish America's Cup campaign, Desafio España Copa América, for the 1992 Louis Vuitton Cup. [3] The team, representing the Monte Real Club de Yates de Bayona finished fifth. They again competed in the 1995 Louis Vuitton Cup, finishing sixth. [4] Desafio Español again competed in the 2000 Louis Vuitton Cup, finishing seventh. [5] [6]
He then turned his attention to the 2005–06 Volvo Ocean Race, organising the Spanish entry, movistar. [7] [8] For the 2008–09 Volvo Ocean Race, the team was sponsored by Telefonica and ran a two boat entry. Telefonica Blue finished third. Campos skippered Telefonica Black during the in-port races. Telefonica again entered the 2011–12 Volvo Ocean Race, finishing fourth. The team became Mapfre for the 2014–15 Volvo Ocean Race, and again finished fourth. [10] [11] They will again compete in the 2017–18 Volvo Ocean Race. [12] [13] [14]
He is the president of North Sails Spain and is a member of the Royal Order of Sports Merit. [15]
Paul Pierre Cayard is an American yachtsman and professional sailor. He has competed at multiple world championship level sailing events, including the America's Cup, the Whitbread Round the World Race, the Volvo Ocean Race and the Olympic Games. In 1998 he was selected as the US Rolex Yachtsmen of the Year. He has won seven world championships, twice participated in the Olympic Games and seven times in the America's Cup. In 2011 he was elected into the US Sailing Hall of Fame.

Xabier Fernández Gaztañaga is a Basque Spanish sailor and olympic champion. Fernandez won a gold medal in the 49er class with Iker Martínez at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. The same pairing won the silver medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He has been a crewmember and skipper in the Volvo Ocean Race five times, onboard: movistar (2005–06), Telefónica Blue (2008–09), Telefónica (2011–12), and MAPFRE.
The 2011–12 Volvo Ocean Race was the 11th edition of the round-the-world Volvo Ocean Race, yacht race which started with an in-port race in Alicante, Spain on 29 October 2011 with six Volvo Open 70 yachts at the start line and ended with an in-port race in Galway, Ireland on 7 July 2012. The 39,270 NM route involved stopovers and in-port races in Cape Town, Abu Dhabi, Sanya, Auckland, Itajaí, Miami, Lisbon, Lorient, and finally Galway. The race consisted of nine ocean races and ten in-port races.
