Peggy A. Rosenzweig (born November 5,1936) is a former member of the Wisconsin State Senate and the Wisconsin State Assembly. She served in the Wisconsin Legislature from 1983 to 2003. [1]
Before being elected to the Assembly,she worked as director of community relations for the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center and a consultant for the Independence Bank of Wauwatosa. [2] [3]
Rosenzweig began her career in the Wisconsin Legislature as another later ended it,challenging a long-time incumbent Republican for the nomination. She defeated George Klicka in the September 1982 primaries 3,487 to 2,752, [4] before defeating Democrat James Bottoni in the general election,12,773 to 7,536. [5]
In April 1993,Rosenzweig won a special election against Democrat David Cullen for an open seat in the Wisconsin State Senate. [2] [6] She was unseated in the 2002 primaries by fellow Republican Thomas G. Reynolds,who claimed she was too liberal on issues such as abortion and gun-control. [7] The election may have been influenced by the redrawing of the 5th Senate District after the 2000 census,which increased its proportion of Republicans. [8]
In 2003,Rosenzweig was appointed to the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System by governor Jim Doyle,serving until 2008. [9] [10]
In 2006,Rosenzweig was appointed to the board of the Wisconsin Technical College System. [11]
Born in Detroit,Michigan,Rosenzweig graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 1978 with a degree in political science. She also attended Juilliard for two semesters in the early 1950s. Rosenzweig is married to David Y. Rosenzweig,a doctor and professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin. [12] As of 2011,she had five adult children and twelve grandchildren. She lives in Wauwatosa,Wisconsin. [2]
Rosenzweig is Jewish,having been raised in the Reform tradition. [13]

2002 State Senate GOP Primary
Peggy Ann Lautenschlager was an American attorney and Democratic politician who was the first chair of the Wisconsin Ethics Commission from 2016 to 2017, the 42nd Attorney General of Wisconsin from 2003 to 2007, the United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin from 1993 to 2001, a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly for the 52nd district from 1989 to 1993, and the Winnebago County District Attorney from 1985 to 1989. Lautenschlager was the first woman to serve as Attorney General of Wisconsin.
Thomas G. "Tom" Reynolds is a former American politician who served in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing the 5th district. He is a former member of the Republican Party of Wisconsin.
Frederick P. Kessler is a retired American lawyer, arbitrator, judge, and Democratic Party politician. He served as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly for 24 years between 1961 and 2019, and served 11 years as a state judge in the 1970s and 1980s.
Scott Lawrence Fitzgerald is an American politician and former newspaper publisher. A Republican, he represents Wisconsin's 5th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. The district includes many of Milwaukee's northern and western suburbs, such as Waukesha, West Bend, Brookfield, and Mequon. He represented the 13th district in the Wisconsin State Senate from 1995 to 2021.
Robin J. Vos is an American Republican politician and the 79th speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly, serving in that role since 2013. He has been a member of the Assembly since 2005, representing most of the southern half of Racine County. Vos is also president of the National Conference of State Legislatures.
Sandra "Sandy" Pasch is an American nurse and Democratic politician. She served six years in the Wisconsin State Assembly (2009–2015), representing north-central Milwaukee County.
Leah Vukmir is an American politician and nurse who served as a member of the Wisconsin Senate. A Republican, she represented Wisconsin's 5th District. She previously served in the Wisconsin Assembly. Vukmir was the Republican nominee in the 2018 U.S. Senate election in Wisconsin, running unsuccessfully against incumbent Democrat Tammy Baldwin. In March 2019, Vukmir became vice president of state affairs at the National Taxpayers Union.
Roger J. Roth Jr. is an American politician from Wisconsin. A Republican, he was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2007 to 2011, and a member of the Wisconsin State Senate since 2015. He was the nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin in the 2022 election.

The 2012 United States Senate election in Wisconsin took place on November 6, 2012, alongside a U.S. presidential election as well as other elections to the United States Senate and House of Representatives and various state and local elections. Incumbent Democratic Senator Herb Kohl retired instead of running for re-election to a fifth term. This was the first open Senate seat in Wisconsin since 1988, when Kohl won his first term.
Van H. Wanggaard is a Republican politician and former law enforcement officer. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Senate, representing Racine and Kenosha counties since January 5, 2015. He was previously elected to the same office in 2010, but was removed by recall election in June 2012.

The 2018 Wisconsin Fall Partisan Primary was held August 14, 2018. There were also special elections held during 2018 for three State Assembly seats and two State Senate seats.

Sylvia Ortiz-Velez is an American politician and real estate broker. A Democrat, she is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from assembly district 8. She was elected to her first term in November 2020. She is also a member of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, serving since 2018.
Sara Rodriguez is an American registered nurse, health care executive, and Democratic politician. She is the lieutenant governor-elect of the state of Wisconsin, having won election as running mate of Tony Evers in the 2022 Wisconsin gubernatorial election. She is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly since 2021, representing the 13th Assembly district—parts of western Milwaukee County and eastern Waukesha County.
The 2021 Wisconsin Spring Election was held in the U.S. state of Wisconsin on April 6, 2021. There was one statewide race—for Superintendent of Public Instruction. Additionally, two special elections occurred for the Wisconsin State Senate and Wisconsin State Assembly, as well as other nonpartisan local and judicial elections. The 2021 Spring primary was held on February 16, 2021.
Redistricting in Wisconsin is the process by which boundaries are redrawn for municipal wards, Wisconsin State Assembly districts, Wisconsin State Senate districts, and Wisconsin's congressional districts. Redistricting occurs—as in other U.S. states—once every decade, usually in the year after the decennial United States Census. According to the Wisconsin Constitution, redistricting in Wisconsin follows the regular legislative process, it must be passed by both houses of the Wisconsin Legislature and signed by the Governor of Wisconsin—unless the Legislature has sufficient votes to override a gubernatorial veto. Due to legislative gridlock, however, it has become common for Wisconsin redistricting to be conducted by courts. The 1982, 1992, and 2002 legislative maps were each created by panels of United States federal judges.
