Peggy A. Rosenzweig (born November 5,1936) is a former member of the Wisconsin State Senate and the Wisconsin State Assembly. She served in the Wisconsin Legislature from 1983 to 2003. [1]
Before being elected to the Assembly,she worked as director of community relations for the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center and a consultant for the Independence Bank of Wauwatosa. [2] [3]
Rosenzweig began her career in the Wisconsin Legislature as another later ended it,challenging a long-time incumbent Republican for the nomination. She defeated George Klicka in the September 1982 primaries 3,487 to 2,752, [4] before defeating Democrat James Bottoni in the general election,12,773 to 7,536. [5]
In April 1993,Rosenzweig won a special election against Democrat David Cullen for an open seat in the Wisconsin State Senate. [2] [6] She was unseated in the 2002 primaries by fellow Republican Thomas G. Reynolds,who claimed she was too liberal on issues such as abortion and gun-control. [7] The election may have been influenced by the redrawing of the 5th Senate District after the 2000 census,which increased its proportion of Republicans. [8]
In 2003,Rosenzweig was appointed to the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System by governor Jim Doyle,serving until 2008. [9] [10]
In 2006,Rosenzweig was appointed to the board of the Wisconsin Technical College System. [11]
Born in Detroit,Michigan,Rosenzweig graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 1978 with a degree in political science. She also attended Juilliard for two semesters in the early 1950s. Rosenzweig is married to David Y. Rosenzweig,a doctor and professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin. [12] As of 2011,she had five adult children,twelve grandchildren,and one great grandchild. She lives in Wauwatosa,Wisconsin. [2]
Rosenzweig is Jewish,having been raised in the Reform tradition. [13]

Thomas G. Reynolds is a former American politician who served in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing the 5th district. He is a former member of the Republican Party of Wisconsin.
Margaret Ann "Peggy" Krusick is a retired American Democratic politician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly for nearly thirty years (1983–2013), representing southwest wards of the city of Milwaukee and neighboring areas. She lost her seat to a primary challenge from Daniel Riemer in the 2012 assembly elections due to her stances on certain issues.
Frederick P. Kessler was an American lawyer, arbitrator, judge, and Democratic Party politician. He served as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly for 24 years between 1961 and 2019, and served 11 years as a state judge in the 1970s and 1980s.
Sandra Pasch is an American politician and nurse. She served six years in the Wisconsin State Assembly as a Democrat (2009–2015), representing north-central Milwaukee County.
David A. Cullen is an American lawyer and Democratic politician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is the current treasurer of Milwaukee County. Prior to his election as treasurer in 2014, he served 13 years as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly (1990–2013), two years on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors (2012–2014), and 7 years on the Milwaukee Public Schools Board of Education (1983–1990).
Leah Vukmir is an American politician and nurse who served as a member of the Wisconsin Senate. A Republican, she represented Wisconsin's 5th Senate district. She previously served in the Wisconsin Assembly. Vukmir was the Republican nominee in the 2018 U.S. Senate election in Wisconsin, running unsuccessfully against incumbent Democrat Tammy Baldwin. In March 2019, Vukmir became vice president of state affairs at the National Taxpayers Union.
Roger James Roth Jr. is an American politician from Appleton, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Wisconsin Senate for eight years, representing Wisconsin's 19th Senate district from 2015 to 2023, and was president of the Senate during the 2017–2018 and 2019–2020 legislative terms. Before serving in the Senate, he was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly for two terms.

Van H. Wanggaard is a Republican politician and former law enforcement officer. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Senate, representing Racine and Kenosha counties since January 5, 2015. He was previously elected to the same office in 2010, but was removed by recall election in June 2012.
Sherburn Duane "Duey" Stroebel Jr. is an American realtor and Republican politician from Cedarburg, Wisconsin. He is a member of the Wisconsin Senate, representing the 20th Senate district since 2015. He previously served two terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly, from 2011 to 2015. After the latest redistricting plan, Stroebel was drawn out of his previous Senate district and lost re-election running in Wisconsin's 8th Senate district in 2024.
Janel Brandtjen is an American businesswoman and Republican politician and from Waukesha County, Wisconsin. She is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Wisconsin's 22nd Assembly district since January 2015. She has been a leader among those in Wisconsin denying the results of the 2020 United States presidential election and seeking retribution against those who participated in the election administration. She has a long running feud with Republican state Assembly speaker Robin Vos, and she was one of several state lawmakers who signed a letter asking Vice President Mike Pence to reject the electoral votes of Wisconsin at the January 6, 2021, counting of electoral college votes.

One of Wisconsin's U.S. Senate seats and all eight seats in the United States House of Representatives were up for election, as well as half of the Wisconsin Senate seats and all 99 Wisconsin State Assembly seats. Voters also chose ten electors to represent them in the Electoral College, which then participated in selecting the 45th president of the United States. The 2016 Fall Partisan Primary was held on August 9, 2016.

The 2016 Wisconsin Senate elections were held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at the Fall general election in Wisconsin. Sixteen of the 33 seats in the Wisconsin Senate were up for election—the even-numbered districts. Before the election, Republicans held 18 seats, Democrats held 14 seats, and 1 seat was vacant. Of the seats up for election, 8 were held by Democrats, 7 were held by Republicans, and 1 was vacant due to the recent death of a Republican member. The primary election was held on August 9, 2016.

Redistricting in Wisconsin is the process by which boundaries are redrawn for municipal wards, Wisconsin State Assembly districts, Wisconsin State Senate districts, and Wisconsin's congressional districts. Redistricting typically occurs—as in other U.S. states—once every decade, usually in the year after the decennial United States census. According to the Wisconsin Constitution, redistricting in Wisconsin follows the regular legislative process, it must be passed by both houses of the Wisconsin Legislature and signed by the Governor of Wisconsin—unless the Legislature has sufficient votes to override a gubernatorial veto. Due to political gridlock, however, it has become common for Wisconsin redistricting to be conducted by courts. The 1982, 1992, and 2002 legislative maps were each enacted by panels of United States federal judges; the 1964 and 2022 maps were enacted by the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
The 2015 Wisconsin Spring Election was held in the U.S. state of Wisconsin on April 7, 2015. There was a contested election for justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as well as several other nonpartisan local and judicial elections and an amendment to the Constitution of Wisconsin to change the process for selection of the chief justice of the State Supreme Court. In addition, the ballot contained a special election to fill a vacancy in the 20th State Senate district. The 2015 Wisconsin Spring Primary was held February 17, 2015.

The 2022 Wisconsin fall primary was held on August 9, 2022.
