People's Front (Turkish : Halk Cephesi) is a Marxist-Leninist mass organization in the Republic of Turkey.

Activity

Halk Cephesi works on issues such as solving social problems such as drug addiction, prostitution, gentrification. Halk Cephesi is active mostly in poor neighborhoods in Istanbul where it also has associations named "Hasan Ferit Gedik Center for Struggle and Liberation Against Drugs" which acts as a rehabilitation centre for those addicted to drugs. Public officials, hold the view that the People's Front is related to the DHKP-C.

Events

On 29 September 2013 Hasan Ferit Gedik, young activist of Halk Cephesi was killed by drug gang in Maltepe. [1] Members of People's Front opened clinic the Hasan Ferit Gedik Center for Struggle and Liberation from Drugs [2]

On 28-29 October 2020, close to 100 people from Halk Cephesi were arrested in raids across 12 provinces in Turkey [3]

International relations

People's Front is one of founder-members of the Anti-Imperialist Front, and organised yearly International Symposium against Imperialist Aggression. [4] in Istanbul.

Revolutionary Communist Party of Turkey Political party in Turkey

The Revolutionary Communist Party of Turkey is a clandestine communist party in Turkey. TDKP considers itself to be the continuation of the People's Liberation Army of Turkey. The THKO Conference gathered in October 1978. It changed the name of the organisation to that of Revolutionary Communist Party of Turkey - Construction Organisation. The split with the pro-Soviet line of the THKO, called Mücadelede Birlik in 1974 is also shown as its roots. Between 1976 and 1979 the followers of THKO gathered around a legal publication called Halkın Kurtuluşu and are often known by that name. THKO passed through two splits, Bes Parçacılar left in 1976 and THKO-Aktancılar in 1977. Bes Parçacılar reunited with TDKP-IÖ in 1979. The TDKP-IÖ formally founded TDKP at a congress on 2 February 1980.

Revolutionary People's Party is a political party in Turkey, politically close to the PKK. DHP was formed in 1994. It publishes Alternatif.

Deniz Gezmiş was a Turkish Marxist-Leninist revolutionary, student leader, and political activist in Turkey in the late 1960s. He was one of the founding members of the People's Liberation Army of Turkey (THKO).

Grup Yorum is a band from Turkey known for their political songwriting. Grup Yorum has released twenty-three albums and one film since 1985. Some of the group's concerts and albums were banned over the years, and some of the group members have been arrested, jailed, and tortured. Yorum remains popular and their albums continue to sell well in Turkey and internationally. Yorum has also given concerts in Germany, Austria, Australia, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, United Kingdom, Greece and Syria.

Maoist Communist Party (Turkey) Political party in Turkey

The Maoist Communist Party of Turkey is a Marxist–Leninist–Maoist insurgent organization in Turkey. It is the most significant of the Maoist organisations in Turkey; it upholds the legacy of Ibrahim Kaypakkaya. It maintains two armed wings: the People's Partisan Forces and People's Liberation Army . MKP was a part of Revolutionary Internationalist Movement and participates in the Conference of Communist and Workers’ Parties of the Balkans.

Dursun Karataş

Dursun Karataş was a Turkish communist of Kurdish descent. He commanded the revolutionary left and DHKP-C. DHKP-C is seen as a "terrorist organization"in Turkey, the EU and the USA. The revolutionary left was closed in the 90s due to lack of personnel.

Devrimci Yol Former left-wing political movement in Turkey

Devrimci Yol was a Turkish political movement with many supporters in trade unions and other professional institutions. Its ideology was based on Marxism-Leninism but rejected both the Soviet and the Chinese model in favor of a more native Turkish model, although it was influenced by the latter. Devrimci Yol entered the political scene in Turkey on 1 May 1977 with its manifesto called bildirge. Its roots can be seen in a movement that called itself Devrimci Gençlik, and it followed the thesis of Mahir Çayan.

The Revolutionary Youth Federation of Turkey, often known simply as Revolutionary Youth was a Marxist-Leninist organization founded in 1965 in Turkey and banned in 1971 after the 1971 Turkish coup d'état, continuing for some time as an underground organization. It was founded in 1965 as the Federation of Debate Clubs and renamed in 1969. It inspired various offshoots, including Devrimci Yol, the Revolutionary Workers and Peasants Party of Turkey, and the Kurdistan Workers' Party.

Mahir Çayan

Mahir Çayan was a Turkish communist revolutionary and the leader of People's Liberation Party-Front of Turkey. He was a Marxist–Leninist revolutionary leader. On 30 March 1972, he was killed in an ambush by Turkish Military Forces with nine of the other members of THKP-C and THKO in Kızıldere village.

The DHKP/C insurgency in Turkey refers to the Marxist–Leninist insurgency waged by the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front (DHKP/C) against the Republic of Turkey, ongoing since 1990. The insurgency began with political assassinations in the early 1990s, and has escalated in the past few years with the use of suicide bombers.

The Revolutionary People's Party is a Marxist anti-imperialist political party in Turkey. The DEV-PARTİ was founded on 28 September 2011 and led by Celal Özcan. Party dissolved on 20 July 2017.

2012 Istanbul suicide bombing Terrorist act in Turkey

The 2012 Instanbul suicide bombing occurred at a police station in the Sultangazi district of Istanbul, Turkey. The suicide bomber was İbrahim Çuhadar, a member of the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front (DHKP-C). On 11 September 2012, he went to the police station and attempted to enter, then detonated the explosives at the entrance of the station after the police refused him entrance. As a result of the explosion, the attacker and a police officer died and seven others were injured.
