Pepijn Doesburg (born 17 January 2001) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a forward for Eerste Divisie club VVV-Venlo. He is the grandson of Eredivisie record appearance holder Pim Doesburg.
Doesburg played in the youth teams of TOGB and Feyenoord before joining Sparta Rotterdam. [1] In June 2022 Doesburg began training with Dordrecht ahead of the 2022–23 season. [2] He made his Eerste Divisie debut in August 2022 against Roda JC. [3] He scored his first Eerste divisie goal against PEC Zwolle in October 2022. [4]
On 31 August 2023, Doesburg was loaned by VVV-Venlo, with an option to buy. [5] On 5 April 2024, he signed a permanent deal with the club; a two-year contract. [6]
His grandfather is former Dutch international footballer Pim Doesburg, who holds the record for Eredivisie appearances of 687. Unlike his grandfather tho Pepjin explained he couldn’t be a goalkeeper as he was useless with his hands. He credited his grandfather with passing on advice around the mental toughness required to play professionally which helped Pepjin with the mentality required to help overcome injuries in his career. Willem "Pim" Doesburg was a footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He obtained eight caps for the Netherlands national team from 1967 to 1981. Doesburg is the Eredivisie record holder for matches played, with 687 games in a 25-year career.
Eerste Divisie 2008–09 began in August 2008 and concluded in May 2009, with the promotion playoffs. Sixteen clubs remained in the Eerste Divisie, whilst Excelsior and VVV-Venlo were relegated from the 2007–08 Eredivisie.
