Gilberto Santa Rosa Cortés, nicknamed "El Caballero de la Salsa", is a Puerto Rican bandleader and singer of salsa and bolero. He is a six-time Grammy Award winner and has sold over three million records in the United States and Puerto Rico. Santa Rosa also starred in a comedy.
Víctor Manuel Ruiz Velázquez, known professionally as Víctor Manuelle, is an American salsa musician, known to his fans as El Sonero de la Juventud. He is identified primarily with salsa romántica or "salsa monga". Víctor Manuelle has neither recorded in English, nor made a Latin pop album, nor ventured into acting, preferring to remain a musician grounded within salsa music.
Jorge Manuel López, also known as Giro Lopez, is a Puerto Rican salsa musician. Giro began his career as part of the boy band of Puerto Rico called Los Chicos. Two singles by "Giro" Jorge López, "Si Tu Supieras" and "Mi Forma de Sentir", reached #1 on the Latin Tropical Airplay. In 1995, Giro received a Lo Nuestro award for "New Tropical Singer of the Year" and in 1996 also was nominated for Best Male Tropical Singer of the Year. He won a Gold Record at the New Jersey OTT Awards, presented by Billboard magazine.

Tropical Albums is a record chart published by Billboard magazine. Established in June 1985, the chart compiles information about the top-selling albums in genres like salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, and vallenato, which are frequently considered tropical music. The chart features only full-length albums and, like all Billboard album charts, is based on sales. The information is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan from a sample representing more than 90% of the U.S. music retail market, including not only music stores and music departments at electronics and department stores but also direct-to-consumer transactions and Internet sales. A limited number of verifiable sales at concert venues is also tabulated. Innovations by El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico was the first album to reach number-one in the chart. Up until May 21, 2005, reggaeton albums appeared on the chart. After the installation of the Latin Rhythm Albums chart, reggaeton titles could no longer appear on the Tropical Albums chart. By removing reggaeton albums from the Tropical Albums chart, it opened slots for re-entries and debuts. American bachata group Aventura claimed the top spot on the Tropical Albums chart, which marked the first time since the issue dated November 6, 2004 that a reggaeton album was not at the number-one spot.

Trópico is the fifteenth compilation album by the Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona, released on 13 June 2009. The album consists of Arjona's past songs, drawn from Animal Nocturno (1992) to Galería Caribe (2000), which are performed either by him, or by other Latin artists, including Marc Anthony, Tito Nieves and Gilberto Santa Rosa. The album follows Sony's release of Simplemente Lo Mejor in December 2008, and it marks the second compilation album released after Arjona's departure to Warner Music on September 2008.
Una Navidad con Gilberto, is the title of a Christmas album released by Puerto-Rican singer Gilberto Santa Rosa on October 14, 2008 by Sony BMG Norte. It was the first time that Gilberto released his own Christmas album. He previous collaborated with various artists on the Tarjeta de Navidad by Sony Discos. In addition, he collaborated with Puerto Rican salsa group El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico on their album, Asi es Nuestra Navidad. The album peaked at number-six in the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart and number twenty-two on the Billboard Holiday Albums chart. It remained on the Top Latin Album charts for thirteen weeks. The album reached number-one on the Tropical Albums where it spent three weeks on the spot. At the Latin Grammy Awards of 2009, the album received a Latin Grammy Award for "Best Traditional Tropical Album".

It became his second #1 hit on the Tropical Airplay chart. The track was recognized as one of the best-performing songs of the year on the Tropical/salsa field at the 1998 ASCAP Latin Awards.
