Catatonia were an alternative rock band from Wales who gained popularity in the mid-to-late 1990s. The band formed in 1992 after Mark Roberts met Cerys Matthews and Kirsty Kennedy. The first major lineup featured Dafydd Ieuan of Super Furry Animals on drums, Paul Jones on bass, and Clancy Pegg on keyboards. With this line-up the band recorded two EPs, For Tinkerbell and Hooked.
Dead or Alive were an English pop band who released seven studio albums from 1984 to 2000. The band formed in 1980 in Liverpool and found success in the mid-1980s, releasing seven singles that made the UK Top 40 and three albums in the UK Top 30. At the peak of their success, the line-up consisted of Pete Burns (vocals), Steve Coy (drums), Mike Percy (bass), and Tim Lever (keyboards), with the core pair of Burns and Coy writing and producing for the remainder of the band's career due to Percy and Lever exiting the group in 1989. Burns died in 2016; with the death of Coy in 2018, the band ended.

Peter Bjorn and John are a Swedish indie pop/rock band formed in Stockholm in 1999, named after the first names of the band's members: Peter Morén, Björn Yttling and John Eriksson, known in his solo work as Hortlax Cobra. Yttling also worked as producer for the band's first four albums.

Stone Gods were a British hard rock band formed by some ex-members of the hard rock band The Darkness. Their debut album, titled Silver Spoons & Broken Bones, was released in July 2008, with the first single "Knight of the Living Dead" being released in June 2008. In December 2010 they officially went on hiatus.
The Last Tycoon is the debut solo album by Swedish musician Peter Morén of the band Peter Bjorn And John. The album revolves mainly around the theme of adolescence, though its title is taken from the unfinished The Last Tycoon by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Morén's initial plan was to make a purely acoustic record, but the final product contains elements such as string sections and synthesisers. It was released by V2 Records under license from Wichita Recordings. The album was recorded "...in our spare, stolen hours, here and there in apartments, rehearsal spaces and studios in Stockholm...". The album had two singles; Social Competence, released in March, followed by Reel Too Real in April. The album was produced by songwriter Tobias Fröberg, and Daniel Värjö, member of The Concretes, whose former member Victoria Bergsman Morén had previously collaborated with on the Peter Bjorn And John song "Young Folks".
The Velvet Underground was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1964. It originally comprised singer and guitarist Lou Reed, Welsh multi-instrumentalist John Cale, guitarist Sterling Morrison, and drummer Angus MacLise. In 1965, MacLise was replaced by Moe Tucker, who played on most of the band's recordings. Though their integration of rock and the avant-garde resulted in little commercial success, they are now widely regarded as one of the most influential bands in rock, underground, experimental, and alternative music. Their provocative subject matter, musical experiments, and nihilistic attitude was also instrumental in the development of punk rock, new wave and several other genres.
