Darker Days is the eighth album by Peter Bjorn and John. It was released on 19 October 2018 on the INGRID label. [1]
The album is a follow-up to their 2016 album Breakin' Point, and was inspired by 1970s music, the group Simon and Garfunkel, and guitarist Jack White. [2] A press release by the band summarised the album's themes as being, "Peter tackling what's happening in the world right now, Bjorn delving into relationship issues and John, the most existential, exploring the shadows of our own psyche." [1] Before the album was released, each band member put forth one single that they had written: "One for the Team", "Gut Feeling", and "Every Other Night" for simultaneous digital release, along with matching music videos. They later released a fourth single called "Wrapped Around the Axle", which the first track on the album contains elements of. [2]
In early 2019, the band released a three-song digital EP titled "EPBJ" as an intended appendix to the album. This included the titular track "Darker Days" that was left off the album itself. Elements of this track can be heard in the last track of the album, "Heaven And Hell", though the vinyl release of the album uses a shortened edit that excludes these elements. The band also released a three-song digital EP containing audio from a live studio session at INGRID Studios in Stockholm.
The album has received generally favourable reviews. Tim Sendra from Allmusic praised what he called a "back to basics" approach after the previous electronic-focused Breakin' Point, and called the new album darker, rejuvenated, and confident. [3] Chris Watkeys called the album, "fresh, bright, and shiny, and pretty much instantly accessible," despite its title. [4]

Manowar is an American heavy metal band from Auburn, New York. Formed in 1980, the group is known for lyrics based on fantasy and mythology, as well as numerous songs celebrating the genre and its core audience. The band is also known for a loud and emphatic sound. In an interview for MTV in February 2007, bassist Joey DeMaio lamented that "these days, there's a real lack of big, epic metal that is drenched with crushing guitars and choirs and orchestras... so it's nice to be one of the few bands that's actually doing that". In 1984, the band was included in the Guinness Book of World Records for delivering the loudest performance, a record which they have since broken on two occasions. They also hold the world record for the longest heavy metal concert after playing for five hours and 1 minute in Bulgaria in 2008. They also have been known for their slogan "Death to false metal". Although the band has never been a mainstream commercial success in the United States, they maintain a strong cult following. As of 2019, Manowar has sold more than 20 million records worldwide.

Lycia is an American dark wave band formed in 1988 in Tempe, Arizona. The main personnel of the band are Mike VanPortfleet, Tara VanFlower and David Galas. Although only achieving minor cult success, the band is notable for being one of the ground breaking groups in darkwave and ethereal wave styles. Their 1995 album The Burning Circle and Then Dust received some attention for the power pop hit song "Pray," and the album "remains a high point of American dark rock," according to AllMusic. Lycia's music is characterized by rich soundscapes and layers of echoed guitars, dark and ethereal keyboards, doomy drum machine beats, VanPortfleet's melancholic, whispered vocals and Vanflower's vivid voice. Trent Reznor and Peter Steele are some of their more well-known fans.

Ingrid is a Swedish artist collective and record label founded in 2012. They released their first compilation on Record Store Day in 2012. The collective's musical work is notable for containing multiple side-projects by its members that do not adhere to the line-ups of their primary ventures; for example, Björn Yttling has a track entitled "Cuban Lips" under the stage name Yttling Jazz on the Ingrid Volym 1 compilation; however, he is also featured as a member of the band Smile along with Teddybears member Joakim Åhlund. All of the bands featured on the compilation are of this nature or are solo works. The record label has been managed by Niklas Hallberg since March 2013.

Holy Hell is the eighth studio album by British metalcore band Architects. It was released on 9 November 2018 through UNFD and Epitaph Records. The album was produced by Dan Searle and Josh Middleton. It is the follow-up to the band's previous album All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us, and is the first record without founding member and main songwriter Tom Searle, following his death in August 2016.
"Breakin' Point" is a song by Swedish band Peter Bjorn and John from their seventh studio album Breakin' Point (2016). It was released on 25 March 2016 through PBJ Musik and Ingrid as the album's second single. Written by the band and produced by Emile Haynie, "Breakin' Point" is a midtempo pop song with lyrics alluding to the protagonist's concerns about expecting a child. It features a whistling intro, which the band were initially hesitant to include as their breakthrough single "Young Folks" (2006) had a similar composition. They eventually decided "Breakin' Point" would represent a fitting tribute as it was conceived near the ten-year anniversary of "Young Folks".
Endless Dream is the ninth album by Peter Bjorn and John. It was released on 13 March 2020 on the Ingrid label of which the band are co-founders.
