Peter Blanker also written as Piet Blanker [3] [4] (born 1935) is a Dutch former Paralympic archer from Rotterdam. He competed at four consecutive Summer Paralympics between 1964 and 1976 and won a total of four silver medals and two bronze medal. [1]

Biography

Before Blanker was impaired, he was a member of the gymnastics club “Ulysses” in Utrecht. During national championship he had an accident that resulted in a partial paralysis. He started archery as part of his rehabilitation process. He continued with archery after his rehabilitation and became a member of the club in Doorn, as there was not another archery club closer. [5]

At the 1964 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo there were 35 competitors who competed in archery, all in a wheelchair. He won the silver medal in the FITA Round open event with 963 points, behind the American Dean Slaugh with 981 points. [6] He also won the silver medal in the Albion Round open event, also behind Dean Slaugh. [7] [5]

Four years later at the 1968 Summer Paralympics in Tel Aviv he competed in the same two events but was not able to win a medal, he finished in the FITA round open event 5th and in the Albion round open event 18th. [8] At the 1972 Summer Paralympics in Heidelberg he won with the Dutch team the silver medal in the FITA Round Team Open event. In the individual FITA round open event he finished 7th.

At his fourth and last Paralympics, the 1976 Summer Paralympics in Toronto, he won two bronze medals. In archery in the FITA Round Team 2-5 event and in dartchery in the Pairs Open event. He finished seventh in the individual FITA Round Open event.

Netty Meurs-van der Krieke was a Dutch Paralympic swimmer from Schoonhoven. She won four silver medals at the 1972 Summer Paralympics. At the 1971 Stoke Mandeville Games she won one gold medal in a new world record, one silver medal and a bronze medal. She became 12 times national champion.

Janny Minholts also written as Janneke Minholtz is a Dutch former Paralympic swimmer from Oosterhoogebrug. She was a member of Gehandicapten Sportclub Groningen (GSC), Zwemclub Groningen (ZCG) and represented the Netherlands at international competitions. She won two gold medals and a bronze medal at the 1968 Summer Paralympics.

Wil Verschoor is a Dutch former Paralympic swimmer from Rotterdam. She competed in the disability class 4 incomplete. She was a member of Rotterdamse Invaliden Sportclub and represented the Netherlands at international competitions. She won two gold medals and a bronze medal at the 1968 Summer Paralympics in Tel Aviv.

Elka Wilhelmina Johanna Croonen-Gaarlandt (1940–2006) was a Dutch Paralympic swimmer and Paralympic athlete who won a gold, two silver and a bronze Paralympic medals. She also competed in table tennis. She won a silver medal at the 1960 Summer Paralympics, the inaugural Paralympics in Rome. At the 1964 Summer Paralympics she won a gold, silver and bronze medal. She also competed at three world championships, winning two silver medals. In 1965 she became second in the Dutch sportswoman of the year behind Sjoukje Dijkstra. she is seen as the first figurehead for disabled sports in the Netherlands.

Geert Imming in newspaper names as Piet Imming is a Dutch former Paralympic archer from Weiteveen. He competed at the 1964 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo.

Dik Kruidenier is a Dutch former Paralympic swimmer, athlete and wheelchair basketball player. At the 1960 Summer Paralympics and 1964 Summer Paralympics he won a total of four silver and one bronze medal. At the inaugural 1960 Summer Paralympics in Rome he won two silver medals in athletics and a third silver medal with the wheelchair basketball team. Four years later at the 1964 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo he won a silver and bronze medal in swimming. He competed in swimming in disability class 5, the less impaired disability class.

Gerard J. Jacobs is a Dutch former Paralympic table tennis player. He won one gold and two silver medals at the Summer Paralympics. He competed in the most impaired disability class.

Cissy Balke-Morel is a Dutch former Paralympic swimmer from Amsterdam. At the Stoke Mandeville Games she won a total of four gold and two silver medals. She won at these three consecutive years the gold medal in the 50 metres breaststroke event. At the 1964 Summer Paralympics she finished in this event fourth.

Marion Vreedendaal-de Groot is a Dutch former Paralympic table tennis player and Paralympic swimmer from Amsterdam. At the 1964 Summer Paralympics she won a gold and silver medal in table tennis and another gold medal in swimming. She became world champion at the 1962 Stoke Mandeville Games.

Yap Soem Lie also written as Jap Soulie is a Dutch-Chinese former Paralympic table tennis player from Amsterdam. He played right handed and competed in disability class C.
