Peter Iwers (born on 15 May 1975 [1] ) is a Swedish musician and the current bass player of The Halo Effect. He was a member of Swedish Melodic death metal band In Flames from their 1999 album Colony , up until their 2016 album Battles , originally replacing Johan Larsson who departed after 1997's Whoracle . He was also the bassist for the band Cyhra with former In Flames bandmate Jesper Strömblad from 2017 to 2018.

He has two daughters and one son. His brother Anders is also a bass player, who plays for Tiamat and played for Avatarium (2014–2015) & Dark Tranquillity (2015–2021). Peter Iwers now brews beer at his brewery outside Gothenburg, Odd Island Brewing, together with the founder and co-owner Daniel Svensson, another former In Flames bandmate. [2]

Before he joined in Flames, Iwers played in a band called Chameleon.

Musical style and influences

His bass playing style has been influenced by Toto bassist Mike Porcaro, as well as Geddy Lee from Rush and John Myung of Dream Theater fame. [3]

He currently lives in Gothenburg and played guitar with the melodic rock act Minora from Gothenburg and the bass with the Gothenburg-Stockholm metal band The Resistance. He played as a session member for a few months before he was asked to join the band, which happened during the video recording of the first single from the album Scars, called "Clearing the Slate".

<i>Battles</i> (album) 2016 studio album by In Flames

Battles is the twelfth studio album by Swedish heavy metal band In Flames. It was released on 11 November 2016 in the United States via Eleven Seven Music. It is the last album to feature longtime bassist Peter Iwers and the first of two albums to feature former Red drummer Joe Rickard, who replaced longtime drummer Daniel Svensson, who left the band in 2015. Music videos were made for the tracks "Here Until Forever" and "The End".

Cyhra is a Swedish heavy metal supergroup formed in 2017. The band is made up of lead vocalist Joacim "Jake E" Lundberg (ex-Amaranthe), rhythm guitarist Jesper Strömblad, the German drummer Alex Landenburg, Finnish lead guitarist Euge Valovirta (ex-Shining) and third guitarist Marcus Sunesson (Engel).

The Halo Effect is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed by former members of In Flames. They are signed to the Nuclear Blast label.
