The government of the Isle of Man is a parliamentary representative democracy. The Monarch of the United Kingdom is also the head of state of the Isle of Man,and generally referred to as "The King,Lord of Mann". Legislation of the Isle of Man defines "the Crown in right of the Isle of Man" as separate from the "Crown in right of the United Kingdom". His representative on the island is the Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man,but his role is mostly ceremonial,though he does have the power to grant Royal Assent.

The "Vannin" in the party name is a form of the name of the Isle of Man in the native Manx Gaelic language,while "Liberal" is a reference to the general political position of the party. The party is currently led by Lawrie Hooper MHK.

William Mackay Malarkey was a Manx politician,who was elected Liberal Vannin MHK for Douglas South but later defected from the party and sat as an independent. In the 2011 general election he lost his seat to Liberal Vannin candidate Kate Beecroft. He was re-elected at a by-election in May 2015 as an independent candidate,and retained his seat for Douglas South in September 2016.
The Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority was the statutory board responsible for water supply and sewage disposal in the Isle of Man. It was formed in 1972 as the 'Isle of Man Water Authority' by the merger of the Isle of Man Water Board and the Water Department of Douglas Corporation. In 1974 it took over the gas production and distribution functions of the Isle of Man Gas Authority,and was renamed the 'Isle of Man Water and Gas Authority'. In 1985 the gas undertaking was privatised,and the authority reverted to its original title. It was renamed the 'Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority' in 2010,taking over the sewerage responsibilities of the former Department of Transport.

Mona Douglas was a Manx cultural activist,folklorist,poet,novelist and journalist. She is recognised as the main driving force behind the modern revival of Manx culture and is acknowledged as the most influential Manx poet of the 20th century,but she is best known for her often controversial work to preserve and revive traditional Manx folk music and dance. She was involved in a great number of initiatives to revive interest and activity in Manx culture,including societies,classes,publications and youth groups. The most notable and successful of these was Yn Chruinnaght.
Kathleen Joan "Kate" Costain is a Manx politician who is a former Leader of the Liberal Vannin Party and was a Member of the House of Keys for Douglas South from 2011 to 2020. She changed her surname from Beecroft to Costain in 2019.
Robert Howard Quayle is the former chief minister for the Isle of Man,between 4 October 2016 and 12 October 2021. He previously served as the minister for Health and Social Care,until the elections in September 2016.
Zac Hall MHK is a former Member of the House of Keys for Onchan in the Isle of Man and was a Minister for Department of Food and Agriculture. Elected a member of Liberal Vannin in 2011,he had his party membership revoked in 2012 for "bringing the party into disrepute".
General elections were held in the Isle of Man on 23 September 2021. A record ten women were elected,twice as many as the five elected at the previous election. For the first time,in two constituencies,both elected MHKs were women. Four government ministers failed to be re-elected.
Lawrie Lee Hooper is a Welsh-born Manx politician who is the leader of Liberal Vannin Party and current Minister for the Department of Enterprise. He represented Ramsey in the House of Keys from 2016.
