Peter Madsen is an American jazz pianist.
Madsen was born in Racine, Wisconsin, where he started playing classical piano at eight years old and classical double bass at age ten. At thirteen he started to play the piano in the jazz idiom. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where he majored in music education. In 1980 he moved to New York City where he got a break in the jazz world when Stan Getz invited him to tour in Europe. After his tour with Getz, he began performing regularly with many jazz musicians. He also embarked on a career as a headliner in the Peter Madsen Trio. [1] He runs the Collective of Improvising Artists.
He has performed on over 125 CDs and has worked as a composer and arranger. He has composed over 600 pieces and has recorded hundreds. He has worked with Tony Allen, Arthur Blythe, Randy Brecker, Oscar Brown Jr., Bobby Byrd, Don Cherry, George Coleman, Lynn Collins, Ravi Coltrane, Pee Wee Ellis, Sonny Fortune, Kenny Garrett, Stan Getz, Benny Golson, Martha High, Toninho Horta, David Liebman, Cheikh Lo, Joe Lovano, Vusi Mahlasela, Maceo Parker, Chris Potter, Mahotella Queens, Dewey Redman, James Spaulding, Stanley Turrentine, and Fred Wesley. His students have included Bill Carrothers, Maria Schneider and David Helbock) in Austria, Japan, and the United States. [2]

Thomas Chapin was an American composer and saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist. His music spanned the full range of 20th century creative music, from his time as Lionel Hampton's bandleader to modern jazz and his own avant-garde explorations. He helped create the Knitting Factory scene in New York City in the early 80's and was the first artist signed to Knitting Factory Records. Though primarily an alto saxophonist, he also played sopranino, as well as soprano, tenor, baritone saxes and flute. Many of his recordings as a leader were in a trio with bassist Mario Pavone and drummer Michael Sarin. Chapin studied with Jackie McLean, Paul Jeffrey, Kenny Barron, and Lionel Hampton. He died of leukemia three weeks before his 41st birthday. He played at a benefit concert two weeks before his death.
William Orval Crow is an American jazz bassist. Among other work, Crow was the long-term bassist in saxophonist Gerry Mulligan's bands in the 1950s and 1960s.

The Soft Swing is an album by saxophonist Stan Getz and recorded in 1957 and first released on the Verve label. According to the liner notes by Stewart Clay on a 2016 CD re-release, it was the only studio session in which Getz collaborated with Mose Allison, although some Mutual broadcasts from the Village Vanguard and the Red Hill Inn are included as bonus tracks of the re-release. "Although none of Allison's compositions are played here", wrote jazz critic Alun Morgan about The Soft Swing, "Mose's George Wallington-like solos add piquancy to the occasion. Such an instance can be heard on the broadcast track that closes our CD [the 2016 Phono re-release], on which Stan Getz sits out, which is 'Ain't You a Mess'."
