Peter Marchant (born 11 June 1961) is an Australian Paralympic archer. He represented Australia at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. [1]
Marchant was born on 11 June 1961. [2] In 1986, whilst riding his motor bike to work, a truck travelling in front of him turned unexpectedly and he was thrown from his bike. [2] He ended up injuring his spinal cord. In 2021, he lives in Wallarah, New South Wales. [2]
In 2015, Marchant took up para archery. [2] He is classified as a W2 archer. Marchant made his international debut at the 2017 World Archery Para Championships in Beijing, China. In 2018, he won a silver medal at the 2018 Para-archery European Circuit in Olbia, Italy. [2] At the 2019 World Archery Para Championships in s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, Marchant joined forces with Paralympic bronze medallist Jonathon Milne and Craig McMurdo to reach the quarter-finals in the Men's Team Compound Open and were ranked sixth. At this event, he finished 37th in the Men's Open Compound. [3] [2]
At the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, Marchant lost in the Round of 16 to Ramezan Biabani of Iran in the Men's individual compound open after qualifying 31st. [4]
Zahra Nemati is an Iranian Paralympic and Olympic archer. She originally competed in taekwondo before she was paralyzed in a car accident. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics she won two medals, an individual gold and team bronze. She has qualified to compete at both the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Summer Paralympics. She was the flag bearer at the 2016 Olympics and the postponed 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo where she shared the honour with thrower Nourmohammad Arekhi.
Jonathon Milne is an Australian Paralympic archer. In April 2015 he won the National Para Championships, held in Melbourne. He represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics where he won a bronze medal. Milne won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Para Archery Championships. He has been selected to compete at 2024 Paris Paralympics - his third Paralympics.
Australia participated at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, from 24 August to 5 September 2021. It sent its largest away team - 179 athletes to a Summer Paralympics. Australia finished eighth on the gold medal table and sixth on the total medals table.

Bair Shigaev is a Russian paralympic archer. He competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in the archery competition, winning the bronze medal in the mixed team compound event on open class with his teammate, Stepanida Artakhinova. Shigaev also competed at the 2022 World Para Archery Championships.
Ben Thompson is an American para-archer since 2014. As a compound archery competitor, Thompson won bronze at the 2015 Parapan American Games. At the World Para Archery Championships, Thompson was first in 2017 and 2019 in the men's open compound. During the men's open compound team events with the United States, Thompson was first in 2015 and third in 2017. He also competed at the 2022 World Para Archery Championships and 2022 World Games.
Shyam Sundar Swami is an Indian para archer from Rajasthan. He qualified for the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris in the men's Individual compound event of Archery competitions. He qualified for the Paris Olympics at the World Para Championships in June 2019 at Hertogenbosch with a ninth-place finish.
Piotr van Montagu is a Belgian Paralympic archer of Polish descent. He competes in classification ST and with no arms and an impairment to his right leg has found his own way to becoming one of the best men's compound shooters in the world.
