The South Sydney Rabbitohs are a professional Australian rugby league club based in Redfern, a suburb of inner-southern Sydney, New South Wales. It participates in the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership and are one of nine existing teams from the state capital, Sydney. The club is often called Souths or The Bunnies.

George Leslie Piggins AM is an Australian rugby league personality. He is a former player, coach and administrator of the South Sydney Rabbitohs club. Following their exclusion from the National Rugby League premiership at the end of the Super League war, Piggins also successfully led the Rabbitohs' battle for re-inclusion in the NRL in the early 2000s. Since 2003, the "George Piggins Medal" has been awarded annually to South Sydney's player of the year.
John Lang is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and coached in the 1980s through to the 2010s. A Queensland State of Origin and Australian international representative hooker, he played his club football in Brisbane with the Eastern Suburbs Tigers and in Sydney with the Eastern Suburbs Roosters. After playing, Lang became a first-grade coach in Brisbane with Easts, then in Sydney with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, Penrith Panthers and South Sydney Rabbitohs. Lang also coached the Australian Super League test team in 1997.
Adam Muir is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. An Australian international and New South Wales State of Origin representative forward, he played his club football with the Newcastle Knights, North Sydney Bears, Northern Eagles and the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Ben Te'o is a former profesional rugby union and rugby league footballer who last played as a second-rower for the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL.

The son of former Parramatta premiership winger Neil Hunt and grandson of former South Sydney player Jim Hunt, Hunt previously played for South Sydney, Parramatta and St. George Illawarra. He primarily played as a fullback and wing.
Paul Stringer is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played as a prop in the 1990s and 2000s. He played his junior footy for the Berkeley vale panthers. He also went on to coach the Wyong Roos. And he returned to Berkeley vale panthers as a senior.
Dennis Beecraft is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s, and 1990s. He spent most of his career at the Eastern Suburbs club. His position of choice was second row. Beecraft also played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs as well as for Wakefield Trinity.
Jeff Orford is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s. He played for Eastern Suburbs, St. George, Gold Coast Chargers and South Sydney in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership. Orford primarily played on the wing.
Peter Clarke is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s. He played for Manly-Warringah, Eastern Suburbs, Adelaide Rams, and South Sydney as a centre.
Darren Brown is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Western Suburbs Magpies and the Penrith Panthers. Brown also played for Trafford Borough in England and for the Salford City Reds in the Super League. He spent most of his career as a lock or second rower, but could also play in the backline.
