Phalodi District is one of the six districts in the Jodhpur division of the Rajasthan state of India. This district is known for its salt industry, [3] and it is one of the hottest places in India. [4] The city of Phalodi is the administrative headquarters of the district.
Phalodi District was established on 7 August 2023. [5] The area was formerly part of Jodhpur District.

On 11 August 1947, 4 days prior to the Indian independence, Maharaja Hanwant Singh the last ruler of Jodhpur state signed the Instrument of Accession and merged his state in Union of India. On 30 March 1949, it became part of the newly formed state of Rajasthan, which was created after merging the states of the erstwhile Rajputana Agency.
