Phen Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh, India. Established in 1983, it spans 110.74 square kilometres. [1] The sanctuary serves as a buffer zone for the Kanha Tiger Reserve, with which it shares a biological corridor. [2] [3] [4]
The sanctuary is characterized by dense sal and mixed deciduous forests. It is a critical habitat for the Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, Sloth bear, and Sambar deer. [5] It also hosts nearly 200 bird species within its landscape. [6] [7] [8]
