Philip Warren Gardiner (born 15 December 1946) is a former Australian politician.

Born in Perth, Western Australia, he was a farmer before entering politics; he held a Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) and a Master of Business Administration. In the 2007 federal election, he was the National Party candidate for the safe Liberal seat of O'Connor, coming close to overtaking the Labor candidate on Green preferences and threatening sitting member Wilson Tuckey. In the 2008 Western Australian state election, he was selected as the second National candidate for Agricultural Region in the Legislative Council. He was easily elected; his term began on 22 May 2009. [1] Having previously announced his decision to retire at the end of his term, he instead opted to run on Max Trenorden's independent ticket. Philip Collier

Philip Collier was an Australian politician who served as the 14th Premier of Western Australia from 1924 to 1930 and from 1933 to 1936. He was leader of the Labor Party from 1917 to 1936, and is Western Australia's longest-serving premier from that party.

Brendon John Grylls is an Australian politician who was a National Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 2001 to 2017. Grylls became leader of the National Party in Western Australia from 2005 to 2013, and again from 2016, however he lost his seat at the state election in 2017.

James Gardiner (Australian politician)

James Gardiner was an Australian politician who served in the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1901 to 1904 and from 1914 to 1921. He served as colonial treasurer under two premiers, Walter James and Henry Lefroy. Gardiner was also the inaugural state leader of the Country Party from 1914 to 1915, and briefly served as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly from March to June 1917.

Neil McNeill

Neil McNeill was an Australian politician. Born in Yarloop, Western Australia, he was educated at Scotch College, Perth, and the University of Western Australia, after which he became a farmer. He served in the military in 1945, and returned to become a district officer with the Western Australian Department of Agriculture. In 1961, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Liberal member for Canning. He held the seat until his defeat by a Country Party candidate in 1963. In 1965 he was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council for Lower West, where he remained until 1983, when he retired.

Anthony James Fels is a former Liberal Member of Parliament. He was the member of the Western Australian Legislative Council representing the Agricultural Region from 2005 to 2009, representing the Liberal Party (2005–2008) and later the Family First Party (2008–2009). In 2007, Fels was found to be in contempt of Parliament by a select committee report for giving false answers to a parliamentary inquiry. Despite attempts from the Liberal Party to remove Fels, he resigned from the Liberal Party in August 2008, and attempted to form his own party called People Against Daylight Saving. He later joined Family First. He was leader of WA Family First before they merged with the Australian Conservatives.

This is a list of members of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly between the 1914 election and the 1917 election, together known as the Ninth Parliament. The re-election of Premier John Scaddan's Labor Government with a 26-24 majority in 1914 was tempered when, a year later, Labor member Joseph Gardiner's seat was declared vacant on account of his non-attendance and a Liberal was elected in his stead, and Labor became a minority government when on 18 December 1915, Edward Johnston resigned from the Labor Party and became an independent. On 27 July 1916, the Scaddan Ministry was defeated and the Liberals' Frank Wilson became the new Premier.

2008 Western Australian state election

The 2008 Western Australian state election was held on Saturday 6 September 2008 to elect 59 members to the Legislative Assembly and 36 members to the Legislative Council. The incumbent centre-left Labor Party government, in power since the 2001 election and led since 25 January 2006 by Premier Alan Carpenter, was defeated by the centre-right Liberal Party opposition, led by Opposition Leader Colin Barnett since 6 August 2008.

Mia Jane Davies is an Australian politician who is the current Leader of the Opposition and leader of the National Party in Western Australia. She has been a member of the state Legislative Assembly since 2013, having previously served in the Legislative Council from 2009 to 2013. Davies was elected deputy leader of the Nationals in November 2013, and replaced Brendon Grylls as leader in March 2017 following his defeat at the 2017 state election. As a result of the Liberal Party's electoral wipeout at the 2021 state election, she became leader of the opposition, the first member of her party to hold the role since Arthur Watts in 1947.

Paul John Brown is an Australian politician who served as a National Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 2013 to 2017, representing Agricultural Region. He resigned in order to contest the seat of Geraldton in the Legislative Assembly at the 2017 state election. Brown worked in agriculture before entering politics.
