Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez is a Filipino singer, actor, and record producer who came to prominence after winning the 1984 Ang Bagong Kampeon and the 1989 Asia Pacific Singing Contest. Velasquez signed with OctoArts International under the name Chona in 1986 and released the single "Love Me Again", which was commercially unsuccessful. After adopting the stage name Regine Velasquez, she signed a recording contract with VIVA Records in 1987 and released her eponymous debut album containing the singles "Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang" and "Urong Sulong".
Filipino singer and actor Regine Velasquez has released seventeen studio albums, nine soundtrack albums, one live album, ten compilation albums, six greatest hits albums, five extended plays, seventy-eight singles and sixteen promotional singles. In 1984, she won the television competition Ang Bagong Kampeon and OctoArts International signed her to a record deal. She released her first single "Love Me Again" in 1986, under her nickname Chona Velasquez, which was commercially unsuccessful. After Velasquez signed with VIVA Records in 1987, she released her self-titled debut album, that spawned three singles—"Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang", "Urong Sulong" and "Isang Lahi". In December 1989, she represented the Philippines at the Asia-Pacific Singing Contest performing the songs "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going", which later won her the competition. Her succeeding studio albums Nineteen 90 (1990) and Tagala Talaga (1991) were both certified double platinum, and featured the singles "Narito Ako" and "Buhay Ng Buhay Ko", respectively. Velasquez's fourth studio album, Reason Enough, was released in July 1993 and includes the singles "It's Hard To Say Goodbye" and "Sana Maulit Muli".
The Apolinario Mabini Hiking Society, later popularly known as APO Hiking Society, or simply APO, was a Filipino musical group. The group had its fledgling beginnings in 1969 at the Ateneo de Manila high school, with 15 members: John Paul Micayabas, Lito de Joya, Sonny Santiago, Gus Cosio, Renato Garcia, Chito Kintanar, Kenny Barton, Bruce Brown, Butch Dans, Kinjo Sawada, Ric Segreto Macaraeg, Goff Macaraeg, Doden Besa, Jim Paredes, and Boboy Garovillo. The group's name was created from the acronym AMHS representing their school with a witty twist having an irreverent reference to the Philippine revolutionary intellectual and hero, Apolinario Mabini, and later shortened to "Apo", an Ilocano term for a wise man or a Tagalog term of grandchildren, and later re-branded to "APO". Contrary to popular belief, the "Apo" name was not a reference to the Philippines's highest peak, the potentially-active stratovolcano Mount Apo.

"Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo", released in English as "A New and Better Way—The People's Anthem," is a 1986 song recorded in Filipino by a supergroup composed of 15 Filipino artists. The song serves to commemorate the bloodless People Power Revolution which ended President Ferdinand Marcos's 20-year rule, as well as be a benefit single for the rehabilitation of Radio Veritas, a public affairs radio station instrumental in the revolution. The lyrics of the song are inscribed on a wall of Our Lady of EDSA Shrine, the center of the revolution.

The soundtrack was released by Viva Records on 2000 in CD and cassette format. With the film's immense success, the single "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw" shot to the top of the charts and the soundtrack sold more than 240,000+ copies in the Philippines.
We Love OPM: The Celebrity Sing-Offs is a Philippine reality music competition show on ABS-CBN network hosted by Anne Curtis with Eric Nicolas and mentored by Jay-R, Yeng Constantino, Nyoy Volante, KZ Tandingan, Erik Santos and Richard Poon.
