The Philippines participated at the 18th Southeast Asian Games held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 9 to 17 December 1995.
The Philippines ended up third overall, competing in 25 of 28 events contested. The Filipinos could only bring home 33 gold medals, short of the 57 they harvested in 1993 in what emerged as their second-worst performance in the biennial meet. It was a modest finish, this was how Philippine Sports Commission chair Philip Ella Juico assessed the results of the Philippine participation in the 18th SEA Games.
Elma Muros-Posadas, new queen of Philippine athletics, emerged as the most bemedalled Filipino athlete with three golds. Other Filipinos who excelled were Joselito Santos (cycling), Ryan Papa (swimming), Anecia Pedroso and John Baylon (judo), the Philippine men's basketball team, which kept the cage title by routing Thailand, 108–89, in the finals, Hector Begeo and Edward Lasquete (athletics), and Alvin de los Santos (weightlifting). The 2005 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 23rd Southeast Asian Games, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held in Manila, Philippines.
The 1991 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 16th Southeast Asian Games, was a multi-sport event held in Manila, the Philippines from 24 November to 3 December 1991, with 28 sports featured in the games. This was the second time that the country hosted the games and its first since 1981. It was officially opened by President Corazon Aquino at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila through a colorful opening ceremony. It was the only SEA Games at that time where the overall championship was heavily contested. The deciding medal came from the last sporting event - women's marathon where Indonesia got the gold medal.
The Philippines national baseball team represents the Philippines in international matches and tournaments. It is organized by the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association.
The PSA Athlete of the Year is given by the Philippine Sportswriters Association to the best Filipino athletes annually. It is part of the PSA's Annual Awards Night, one of the most prestigious sport-related awards in the Philippines.

Elma Muros-Posadas also known as the "Long Jump Queen" of the Philippines and a heptathlon champion, is a former member of the Philippine Track and Field National Team and now a legend in Philippine track and field history who specialized in long jump. She also competed in the heptathlon, 100m and 400m hurdles, 100m, 200m, and 400m sprint alongside the "Sprint Queen" of the Philippines and also fellow legend, Lydia de Vega. Elma is one of the foremost track and field athletes produced by the Philippines under the Marcos Regime's National Sports Program, Gintong Alay, that was launched in 1979, but was eventually disbanded in 1986 due to the People Power Revolution and the ousting of Ferdinand Marcos. Later on Gintong Alay was disbanded and became the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) which was established in 1990.
The Philippines women's national volleyball team represents the Philippines in international volleyball competitions and friendly matches, governed by Philippine National Volleyball Federation since 2021. Philippines' highest achievement was they qualified and competed in the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in 1974 edition, where they finished at 18th place.

The 2019 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 30th Southeast Asian Games, or the 30th SEA Games, and commonly known as Philippines 2019, was the 30th edition of the Southeast Asian Games, a biennial regional multi-sport event which was held in the Philippines from 30 November to 11 December 2019. However, due to a narrow calendar, some sports started before the opening ceremony as early as November 24.

The Philippines first sent athletes to the Southeast Asian Games in 1977. Prior to 1977, the Southeast Asian Games were known as the Southeast Asian Peninsular Games. The country's best finish at the games happened twice, both of them which they hosted: in 2005 finishing as overall champions of the games with Thailand and Vietnam finishing second and third in the overall medal standings. and in 2019 in which they beat their own 2005 medal record. Their best finish in the games, excluding editions hosted by the Philippines, was at the 1983 edition where they finish second behind Indonesia.

Ernest John Uy Obiena, also known as EJ Obiena, is a Filipino pole vaulter. Before breaking the Asian Athletics Championships record, he held the Philippine national record in pole vaulting with a record of 5.55 meters which he accomplished on April 29, 2016, at the 78th Singapore Open Championships in Kallang, Singapore. He later broke the Asian Athletics Championships record with 5.71 meters on April 21, 2019, on its 23rd biennial meet at Doha, Qatar which earned him the coveted gold medal finish. He currently holds the National Record which he broke in the same event.
