Phoolwanti is an Indian musical drama TV series broadcast on Doordarshan [1] in 1992, starring Arun Govil, Archana Joglekar and Savita Prabhune. The show was produced by Usha Mangeshkar, with music by Hridaynath Mangeshkar and playback singing by Lata Mangeshkar. The show was based on a story by writer Babasaheb Purandare, with screenplay, dialogues and lyrics by Vasant Deo. [2]

Premise

In 18th century Pune, a beautiful dancer Phoolwanti (Archana Joglekar), takes umbrage to a comment on her by classical music exponent (Shastri ji, played by Arun Govil). They have a competitive bet, and they that whoever loses, that person will become disciple of the winner. Phoolwanti loses in the competition, becomes a student of Shastriji, and comes to live in his house, much to the concern of his wife (played by Savita Prabhune).

Arun Govil Indian actor

Arun Govil is an Indian actor and producer. He has acted in Hindi, Bhojpuri, Braj Bhasha, Odia and Telugu films. He is best known for playing Lord Rama in Ramanand Sagar's hit television series Ramayan (1987). He made his Bollywood debut in Prashanta Nanda's Paheli (1977). He shot to stardom after he was cast in Kanak Mishra's Sawan Ko Aane Do (1979) and Satyen Bose's Saanch Ko Aanch Nahin (1979). He made his small screen debut in Ramanand Sagar's Vikram Aur Betaal (1985). He was then cast as Lord Rama in Sagar's TV series Ramayan (1986), for which he won the Uptron Award in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category in 1988. He reprised his role as Rama in Sagar's Luv Kush.

Arun Kumar Sharma Indian botanist (1924–2017)

Arun Kumar Sharma (1924–2017), popularly known as AKS, was an Indian cytogeneticist, cell biologist, cytochemist and a former Sir Rashbehary Ghose Professor and Head of the Department of Botany at the University of Kolkata, College of Science and Technology. Considered by many as the father of Indian cytology, he headed the Centre for Advanced Study on Cell and Chromosome at the University and is known for his contributions to the studies on the physical and chemical nature of chromosomes.
