Early years and study
Tomaszewski was born in Gostynin, Poland, in 1974. He received his first guitar lesson at a cultural centre in Płock, when he was ten years old. Beginning in 1990, Tomaszewski attended Warsaw's Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy, studying under Ryszard Bałauszko. He later completed his studies under Bałauszko at the Białystok branch of the Academy. As a postgraduate, Tomaszewski studied in 1998 and 1999 at both the Conservatorio de Musica in Las Palmas, in Spain, under Carlos Oramas, and with Alberto Ponce at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. Competitions
As a competitor in several guitar competitions, Tomaszewski has been successful. Performing in the Guitar Competition in Warsaw in 1988, he received first prize, and claimed second prize later that year at the National Guitar Competition, held in Strzelce Krajeńskie, aged 14 years. Two years later, he picked up third prize in Kraków, at the 5th International Guitar Competition. Notably, he was the best of the Polish entries and also the youngest competitor. Also in 1990 he competed in Koszalin for the International Music Schools Competition and finished in second place. For finishing first at the International Guitar Competition in Kraków in 1995, Tomaszewski received a guitar made by Manuel Contreras. He placed first two years later at the Blas Sánchez Foundation's II International Competition, which was held in Ingenio (Gran Canaria), Spain. [2] He placed first again that same year at the VII International Guitar Competition in Las Palmas. Although he only received fourth prize, Tomaszewski was the only Polish competitor at the 1998 Alexandre Tansman International Competition for Musical Personalities, held in Łódź. [1] [3]
Tomaszewski travels around Europe and the United States to perform, frequenting Italy, Austria, Poland, Germany, Spain, and more. He also actively gives concerts, and has done, from the beginning of his career. [4] [5] [6] [7]
He has recorded an album titled Los Colores de la Guitarra, featuring the music of several renowned composers, such as Roland Dyens, Alexandre Tansman, and Joaquín Rodrigo. [8] He currently performs in Florence, Italy, moving around but can almost always be found near the Uffizi Gallery in Piazza della Signoria.
Alexander Tansman was a Polish composer, virtuoso pianist and conductor of Jewish origin, since 1938 a French citizen. One of the earliest representatives of neoclassicism, associated with École de Paris, Tansman was a globally recognized and celebrated composer.
Dimitri Illarionov is a Russian classical guitarist. He is a winner of the Guitar Foundation of America Competition and Francisco Tárrega Guitar Competition.
Alirio Díaz was a Venezuelan classical guitarist and composer, considered one of the most prominent composer-guitarists of South America and an eminent musician. He studied with Andrés Segovia, and gave concerts all over the world.
Marcin Dylla is a Polish classical guitarist who has won over fifteen international classical guitar competitions.
José Tomás Pérez Sellés was a Spanish classical guitarist and teacher. Considered a major influence on the evolution of classical guitar technique in the second half of the 20th century, he trained many guitarists from all over the world.

He has served as music director of the Polish National Opera, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the SWR Radio Orchestra in Kaiserslautern, Germany), and Sinfonia Helvetica and festival Musique and Amitié in Switzerland. He is the Principal Associate Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London.
Stefano Grondona is an Italian classical guitarist born in 1958. In 2002 he formed the guitar ensemble Nova Lira Orfeo XXI, based on Lira Orfeo - a Barcelona music society of which Miguel Llobet was founder and director.
The Chopin University of Music is a musical conservatorium and academy located in central Warsaw, Poland. It is the oldest and largest music school in Poland, and one of the largest in Europe.
Bartolomé Calatayud was a Spanish classical guitar composer, teacher and performer. He was born in 1882 on the island of Mallorca. In 1899, while still a teenager, he was awarded the Diploma of Honor 1st Class by the Workers Instructive Center Palma for his "superior musical knowledge in guitar playing." A contemporary and friend of Miguel Llobet and Andrés Segovia, he studied guitar first with Pedro Antonio Alemany Palmer, and then with Antonio Gomez Melters (1839–1908). He studied harmony and composition with the great Majorcan musicologist and composer D. Antonio Noguera. Bartolomé was also taught by Francisco Tárrega in Valencia.

Berta Rojas is a Paraguayan classical guitarist. In 2012 she was nominated for Best Instrumental Album in the Latin Grammys for her album "Día y Medio " which she recorded with Paquito D’Rivera. For her album "Salsa Roja ", she was nominated at the 2014 Latin Grammy Awards in the category of Best Classical Album. She got her third nomination in the 16th Annual Latin Grammy Awards for Best Tango Album for her album "History of Tango", which she recorded with the silly Camerata Bariloche.
Grzegorz Stec is a Polish painter, graphic artist and poet.
Antonio Rey Navas is a Spanish flamenco guitarist and composer. He is a winner of several national and international flamenco guitar competitions including the Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Córdoba, the Concurso Nacional de Guitarra Flamenca Niño Ricardo and the Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Flamenca Los Cernícalos de Jerez.
