Piro Sports is a German auto racing team based in Heusweiler, Germany. The team currently participates in the ADAC GT4 Germany after previously competed in single-make touring car series and junior formula racing such as ADAC Formula 4 and Formula Renault 1.6 NEC Junior.

History

The team was founded by hillclimb racing driver Erwin Piro in 1998 to compete in the Ford Puma Cup. Between 2000 and 2004 the team competed in the Alfa Romeo 147 Cup and in the MINI Challenge between 2005 and 2012. [1]

Junior formula racing

In 2014 the team made a switch to single seaters entering the Formula Renault 1.6 NEC Junior for Erwin Piro's son Cedric Piro and Larry ten Voorde. The drivers finished 8th (Piro) and 10th (ten Voorde). The team entered the inaugural ADAC Formula 4 season for Piro and Toni Wolf. [2] Wolf finished the season in 22nd position while Piro finished 24th. For 2016 the team entered a single car for Piro at selected races finishing again 24th. The team returned again with Piro in 2017 and adding a second car Doureid Ghattas. [3] Piro finished the season 20th while Ghattas finished 26th without scoring points.

TCR Europe Series

Piro Sports made a return to touring cars by entering in the TCR Europe Series under the Autodis Racing by Piro Sports under Luxembourg racing license. The team entered two cars - Honda Civic Type R TCR (FK8) for Cedric Piro and Hyundai i30 N TCR for Loris Cencetti. [4]

The 2014 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season was a multi-event motor racing championship for open wheel, formula racing cars held across Europe. The championship featured drivers competing in 2 litre Formula Renault single seat race cars that conformed to the technical regulations for the championship. The 2014 season was the 24th Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season organised by Renault Sport. The season began at Motorland Aragón on 26 April and finished on 19 October at Jerez. The series formed part of the World Series by Renault meetings at seven double header events.

Joey Mawson won five races while Mick Schumacher, Lando Norris, Ralf Aron and David Beckmann won one race each.

The 2018 Formula Renault Northern European Cup was the thirteenth and the final Formula Renault Northern European Cup season, an open-wheel motor racing series. It was a multi-event motor racing championship that featured drivers competing in 2 litre Formula Renault single seat race cars that conform to the technical regulations for the championship.

The 2018 TCR Europe Touring Car Series was the third holding of TCR Europe, and first held as a standalone series. The series began at the Circuit Paul Ricard in May and ended at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in October.

The 2018 ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship will be the third season of touring car racing to be run by the German-based sanctioning body ADAC to the TCR regulations. The series will run predominantly in ADAC's home nation Germany. As a support category to the ADAC GT Masters series, the championship will also take in races in the neighbouring nations of Austria, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.

The 2019 ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship will be the fourth season of touring car racing to be run by the German-based sanctioning body ADAC to the TCR regulations. The series will run predominantly in ADAC's home nation Germany. As a support category to the ADAC GT Masters series, the championship will also take in races in the neighbouring nations of Austria, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.
