The album is part of the Playlist album series issued by Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings.
The disc contains live recordings of the songs "Never Really Been", "Without a Trace" and "I Will Still Be Laughing", as well as the song "By the Way", previously released only as a B-side on the Runaway Train single.

Formed in 1981 in Minneapolis, Minnesota using the name Loud Fast Rules, the band's original lineup consisted of vocalist Dave Pirner, guitarist Dan Murphy, bassist Karl Mueller, and drummer Pat Morley. The band changed their name to Soul Asylum prior to the release of Say What You Will... Everything Can Happen in 1984. Later that year, Morley was replaced on drums by Grant Young.

After the Flood: Live from the Grand Forks Prom, June 28, 1997 is the second live album released by Soul Asylum. It was recorded on June 28, 1997, about two months after the Red River Flood of 1997 hit the city of Grand Forks, North Dakota. Soul Asylum played the concert for the joint prom of the local high schools. The event took place in one of the hangars at nearby Grand Forks Air Force Base. The image of the burnt out downtown Security Building taken by Eric Hylden for the Grand Forks Herald is shown on the back cover of the album.
"Runaway Train" is a power ballad by American rock band Soul Asylum. Its music video is notable for featuring images of missing people, most of them young children and teenagers. Lead singer Dave Pirner has stated that the lyrics originally described his experience of depression.

Bob Dylan – The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings is a box set of 1975 live recordings by Bob Dylan, released on June 7, 2019. For this tour, Dylan assembled a loose collective of a backing band called Guam and played across North America for several dozen shows. The tie-in Netflix documentary film Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese was released the following week. A similar compilation was released in 2002 entitled Bob Dylan Live 1975, The Rolling Thunder Revue, as part of Dylan's ongoing Bootleg Series. That compilation was re-released on vinyl as a companion to the later release.
