Pleasance Basketball Club are a basketball club based in Edinburgh, Scotland .
The club was the founded in 1947, one of the first basketball clubs formed in Scotland. Led by club stalwart Jock Kerr Hunter, and along with Heriot's, Polonia and Redford, they formed the East of Scotland Basketball Association, and the Amateur Basketball Association of Scotland.
Five Pleasance players (Ray Campbell, Jimmy Carter, Jock Fisher, George Hill and Grant Hutchison) were in the first Scotland international squad in face England in 1947, and seven players would represent Scotland at the European Championships in Paris in 1951.
Pleasance would win the first two Scottish Cups, defeating Aberdeen University at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow in 1947, and defeating Jordanhill at Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh in 1948.
During the 1970s the club competed regularly in the second division of the Lothian League. The club took the step up to the first division when the league matches moved to a central venue in Edinburgh. Gradually better players were attracted to join the club, and this culminated in the winning of the Lothian Cup in 1990, defeating the fancied Edinburgh University side.
In the intervening years Pleasance have been a strong Lothian League side, regularly finishing in the top 3 positions. After a few seasons of struggling by their own standards, the team bounced back by winning the Lothian League in the 2015–16 season.

The East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL) is a senior football league based in the east and south-east of Scotland. The league sits at levels 6–9 on the Scottish football league system, acting as a feeder to the Lowland Football League.
John "Jock" Stein was a Scottish football player and manager. He was the first manager of a British side to win the European Cup, with Celtic in 1967. Stein also guided Celtic to nine successive Scottish League championships between 1966 and 1974.
Penicuik Athletic Football Club are a Scottish football club. They were formed in 1888 and are based at Penicuik Park, in the town of Penicuik. Penicuik Park is ten miles south west of Edinburgh on the A702 road. The team now plays in the East of Scotland Football League Premier Division, having moved from the junior leagues in 2018.
Edinburgh University Association Football Club are a football club representing the University of Edinburgh. Established in 1878, they are third oldest club in East of Scotland football and have been a member of the Scottish Football Association (SFA) since that year. Edinburgh University are eligible to compete in the Scottish Cup every season as they are full members of the SFA. The club's present home is at Peffermill, where it has played since its move from Canal Field in 1978.
Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale Football Club (LTHV) are a senior non-league football club based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Currently competing in the East of Scotland League Premier Division, they play their home matches at Saughton Enclosure in the Saughton area of the city.
Selkirk Football Club was a Scottish football club based in the town of Selkirk. Founded in 1880, they were the oldest established football club in the Scottish Borders. The club was selected as a founder member of the Lowland Football League, which was formed in 2013 by the Scottish Football Association (SFA) as part of a proposed pyramid system. Their home ground was Yarrow Park. Following financial problems, they resigned from the Lowland League during the 2018–19 season and later went out of business due to insurmountable debts and failure to keep their SFA membership.

The South of Scotland District is a Scottish amateur rugby union team which plays in the amateur Scottish Inter-District Championship. It draws its players from the South of Scotland, mainly the Scottish Borders where there has always been a proud tradition of rugby union. Historically the South team played matches against touring teams visiting Scotland from abroad, and also competed in the Scottish Inter-District Championship. Hibernian, one of the most prominent clubs in Scottish football, was founded in 1875. The club was named in honour of the Roman name for Ireland and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. The East Junior Football League, also known as the Edinburgh & District Junior League, the Midlothian Junior League and the Lothians Junior League, was a football league competition operated in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Falkirk under the Scottish Junior Football Association. It had fluctuations in membership and territory but had a continuous operation as the top league in the east of Scotland until a merger in 2002; it existed as the Lothians District for a further four years as a second-tier league before the name was discontinued in 2006.
