Plymouth Educational Center is a public K-8 charter school, [1] located in the Vivian H. Ross Campus in Detroit, Michigan. It was formerly K-12. [2]

History

Nicholas Hood, Sr., who had operated the Plymouth United Church of Christ Day Care Center, established a day school division in 1974. Nicholas Hood, III took control of the school in 1984. The Plymouth Day School was incorporated as a private school in 1985. The school moved to a new location in 1990, and it began to cover grades K-5. The school moved back to the church facility in 1991, occupying the lower level. It only covered grades K-2. The school began steps to become a charter school in 1992. On August 31, 1995, it was designated as a Michigan Chartered Public School Academy. The current facility opened in 1999; at the time it covered grades K-8 and had over 700 students. [2]

Clara B. Ford Academy Charter school in Michigan, United States

Clara B. Ford Academy is a charter school located in the city of Dearborn Heights, Michigan. The school is located at 20651 West Warren Avenue. The Sisters of the Good Shepherd ran a Detroit area outreach program for young women and in the 1930s began fundraising with the Salvation Army for a large campus. The automaker Henry Ford and his wife, Clara B. Ford, donated 50 acres of land. The residential school opened in 1942 as part of the Vista Maria facility. By the 1980s the facility had evolved into a lay-run "residential treatment and detention facility for young women, placed [t]here by the court". The school has grades 5 - 12 and serves about 170 students at any time but 450 individuals in a school year. For some years Clara B. Ford was operated by the Dearborn School District although it is located in Dearborn Heights.

Crawford Adventist Academy Private school in Toronto, Canada

Crawford Adventist Academy is a K– grade 12 Adventist private day-school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The school is divided into two sections, the elementary, which consists of grades JK-8 under the supervision of principal Mrs. Burgin-Hall and the high school, which consistis of grades 9-12 under the supervision of principal Mr. Thompson. Henry Ford Academy

Henry Ford Academy is the first charter school in the United States to be developed jointly by a global corporation, public education, and a major nonprofit cultural institution. The school is sponsored by the Ford Motor Company, Wayne County Regional Educational Service Agency and The Henry Ford Museum and admits high school students. It is located in Dearborn, Michigan on the campus of the Henry Ford museum. Enrollment is taken from a lottery in the area and totaled 467 in 2010.

Hanley International Academy

The school operates under a contract with Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. Students are required to wear school uniforms.

Blanche Kelso Bruce Academy was the name given to several charter schools within the Detroit Public Schools in Detroit, Michigan, serving students in grades 5-12. Most of the schools were strict-discipline academies for students who had been expelled from regular schools. The schools were named after Blanche Bruce, the first African American to serve a full term as a United States Senator.
