The Polish Film Academy (Polish: Polska Akademia Filmowa) is a professional honorary organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of motion pictures.

History

The academy was founded in 2003 on the initiative of the Independent Film Foundation (Polish: Niezależna Fundacja Filmowa, NFF) and is a national film academy equivalent to other national academies awarding such prizes as French César Awards, Czech Lion Awards or Spanish Goya Awards. [2]

It is composed of about 600 motion picture professionals from Poland. Membership in the Academy is by invitation only. Membership is based on being judged by all members – professional filmmakers as a nominated for distinguished achievements in filmmaking. The Academy organizes annual Polish Film Academy Awards, now officially known as The Eagle (Orzeł). In 2008 the first president of the Academy was Agnieszka Holland. The current president of the Academy is producer and director Dariusz Jabłoński. [3]

Master Film is a Polish dubbing studio based in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. The studio was founded in 1992. The studio commissions dubbed and subtitled versions of content for its clients. Master Film is also one of two dubbing studios that Nickelodeon works with to produce Polish versions of material shown on it, the other being Start International Polska. The studio also works with TVN to produce versions of material shown on it and also animated shown on TVN 7's children block, Bajkowe kino.

Start International Polska is a Polish dubbing and voice-over translation studio based in Warsaw.

Ostatnia misja is a Polish film directed by Wojciech Wójcik. It was filmed in 1999, from 6 January to 1 March.

The Teacher or The Teach is a Polish television crime drama series, which began screening from 2 October 2016. It stars Maciej Stuhr as Paweł, a high school teacher, who investigates criminal cases. Katarzyna Dąbrowska portrays Marta, another teacher and some-time love interest. Paulina Szostak appears as a student, Ewelina, in two seasons. The first season of ten episodes was a rating success for Canal + as it broke their all-time record and won two awards, including Best TV Series at the Polish Film Awards. A second season of eight episodes began in October 2017. After a gap of six years, a third season of eight episodes was broadcast from September 2023.
