Pop Heiress is the third album by the band Chainsaw Kittens, released in 1994. [2] [3]
Pop Heiress was produced by John Agnello over five weeks at NRG Studios and Kiva West Studios in North Hollywood and Encino, Calif., respectively. [2] [4] According to Tyson Meade:
We practiced those songs a ton, so once we put them to tape, they were burning. We were having a fabulous time. We were on Atlantic Records making a big budget record in Los Angeles At one point, John came to a session dressed as a pink bunny. [4]
Trouser Press wrote that "Pop Heiress is the Kittens’ finest album, thanks to a combination of strong hooks, masterful production (by John Agnello) and the confidence that goes with such assets." [5] The Washington Post stated: "From the delirious drama of 'Dive Into the Sea' to the T. Rexy shuffle of 'I Ride Free' to the punky attack of 'Sore on the Floor' and 'Burn You Down,' this is the Kittens' most consistent outing." [6]
Sad Sappy Sucker is a 2001 studio album released by alternative rock band Modest Mouse. Originally slated to be Modest Mouse's debut album in 1994, Sad Sappy Sucker was shelved for several years until its eventual release in 2001, following the popularity of the band's third album The Moon & Antarctica. Several songs were recorded at Olympia, Washington's Dub Narcotic Studios by Beat Happening frontman Calvin Johnson. The record was officially released by Johnson's label K Records on April 24, 2001, available in both Compact Disc and vinyl LP, and containing nine additional tracks added to the original track listing of 15 songs.
Tyson Todd Meade is an American musician, painter, writer, teacher, and disc jockey best known as the principal singer and songwriter for pioneering alternative rock bands Defenestration and Chainsaw Kittens. Defenestration is credited in the book Road to Nirvana as one of the bands that influenced Kurt Cobain's music and Billy Corgan often credited Chainsaw Kittens as one of his favorite bands—Corgan even once wrote Meade when he was working the first Smashing Pumpkins album lauding the brilliance of Chainsaw Kittens first album, Violent Religion.
