Port Klang is a town and the main gateway by sea into Malaysia. Known during colonial times as Port Swettenham but renamed Port Klang in July 1972, it is the largest port in the country. It is located about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) southwest of the town of Klang, and 38 kilometres (24 mi) southwest of Kuala Lumpur.

Port of Tanjung Perak is the second busiest sea port in Indonesia, located at Surabaya, East Java. It is the main port for the eastern part of the island of Java. The port is accessed from the North through the Madura Strait, a 25-mile (40-kilometer) long, 100-meter (110-yard) wide, and 9.5-meter (31-foot) deep channel between East Java and Madura Island. Because of its strategic position and the existence of surrounding advantageous hinterlands, the port constitutes the center of inter island shipping for Eastern Indonesia. Container terminal of the port is known as Terminal Petikemas. The port loaded and unloaded 3.55 million and 3.8 million TEUs of cargo during 2017 and 2018 respectively. The container port ranked as 43rd busiest in the world by Lloyd's One Hundred Ports 2019.
Cikarang Dry Port (CDP) is a dry port located within Kota Jababeka at Cikarang, West Java, Indonesia. CDP was established in 2010 with a total area of 200 hectares. It is operated by PT Cikarang Inland Port, a subsidiary of publicly listed PT Jababeka Tbk, and becomes the first and only Integrated Customs Services Zone in Indonesia. As an inland dry port model, CDP serves as a port extension providing solution to chronic congestion and delays at the major import export gateway of Tanjung Priok. The main objective is simply to cut the dwelling time from 3.2 days to the government target of 2.5 days.
Teluk Bayur Grand Mosque, also known as Surau Ateh, is an old mosque in Indonesia which is located near the Port of Teluk Bayur, South Padang district, Padang, West Sumatra. Although the mosque was previously a surau which was recorded to have stood since the 17th Century, the building which stands on current location was built during the Dutch colonization around the 19th Century.
Port of Kuala Tanjung is a sea port at Batubara Regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Once fully functional the port can accommodate 60 million TEUs per year as the biggest port in West Indonesia, bigger than Port of Tanjung Priok in Jakarta. The first phase of development of Kuala Tanjung Multipurpose Terminal was inaugurated in 2018. The first ship to dock at the port was the cruise ship SuperStar Libra on 5 April 2018 from Port Klang, Malaysia. The port made its debut in the global container market, with its first shipment on 28 March, 2020.

The Sea Toll Program, sometimes called the Sea Highway Program, is a program initiated by Indonesian president Joko Widodo to reduce price disparity between the main islands of Indonesia and smaller isolated islands, especially those in East Indonesia. It was launched in 2015, and has legal basis under Presidential Decree Number 106 of 2015 & Decree from Ministry of Transportation Number 4 of 2016. The program consists of the construction of new container ports in smaller regions and regularly scheduled highly subsidized ship routes from main ports of Indonesia to smaller and more isolated ports.
