Prasanta Phukan (born 23 July 1954) [1] is a Bharatiya Janata Party politician from Assam. He has been elected in Assam Legislative Assembly election in 2006,2011,2016 and 2021 from Dibrugarh. [2] [3] [4] He is the incumbent MLA of Dibrugarh. In 2021,Prasanta Phukan won the Assam Legislative Assembly Election with a margin of 38005 votes. He was the Chairperson of the Managing Committee of Assam Medical College and Hospital,Dibrugarh,before he resigned. [5]
Dibrugarh is an city in Upper Assam with sprawling tea gardens. Located 435 km East from the state capital Dispur. It serves as the headquarters of Dibrugarh district in the state of Assam in India. Dibrugarh serves as the headquarters of the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council,which is the governing council of the Sonowal Kachari tribe. Sarbananda Sonowal is an Indian politician from Assam who is the current Cabinet Minister of Ports,Shipping and Waterways and Cabinet Minister of AYUSH in the Government of India.
