The Private Terms Stakes is a race for Thoroughbred horses held in late March at Laurel Park in Maryland, USA. The winner of the Private Terms Stakes typically races next in either the Federico Tesio Stakes (Preakness Trial) at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore or the Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack in New York. This race is named for Private Terms (born 1985), who won 13 of his 17 starts, including the Grade I Wood Memorial Stakes, the Grade II Gotham Stakes, the grade two Massachusetts Handicap, the grade two General George Handicap and the grade three Federico Tesio Stakes. He had career earnings of $1,243,947 and nine stakes victories. In his retirement, Private Terms has had great success, siring millionaires stakes winners Soul of the Matter and Afternoon Deelites. He has an outstanding success rate as a sire, having 73% of his progeny win races and 11% of his progeny becoming graded stakes winners. [3]

Laurel Park, formerly Laurel Race Course, is an American thoroughbred racetrack located just outside Laurel, Maryland which opened in 1911. The track is 1+18 miles in circumference. Its name was changed to "Laurel Race Course" for several decades until returning to the "Laurel Park" designation in 1994.

Deputy Minister was a Canadian-bred Thoroughbred horse racing Champion. At age two, he won eight out of his nine starts and was voted both the Sovereign and Eclipse Awards for Champion 2-Year-Old in Canada and the United States respectively. He also received Canada's Sovereign Award for Horse of the Year. Although his three-year-old campaign was restricted by injury, Deputy Minister rebounded at age four with several major wins.

Hard Spun is an American Thoroughbred racehorse that finished second in the 2007 Kentucky Derby.

Concern was a multi-millionaire American Thoroughbred racehorse. He was sired by top stallion Broad Brush, who in turn was a son of Ack Ack. His dam was Fara's Team. Foaled in Maryland, Concern was best known for his wins in the 1994 Breeders' Cup Classic and the grade two Arkansas Derby. Born at owner Robert Meyerhoff's Fitzhugh Farm in Phoenix, Maryland. To date, Concern is one of only four Maryland-bred horses ever to surpass the three million dollar mark in earnings. The other three were Cigar, Knicks Go and Awad. He finished racing with a record of 7-7-11 in 30 starts and career earnings of $3,079,350.

The Federico Tesio Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually at Laurel Park in Laurel, Maryland over a distance of 1+18 miles on the dirt for three-year-old horses.

Deputed Testamony was an American Thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning the Preakness Stakes. Deputed Testamony is the last of eight Maryland-breds to win the Preakness Stakes and is one of only eleven colts from the state to win a Triple Crown race. Upon the death of Danzig Connection in 2010, he became the last living thoroughbred to win a Triple Crown race during the decade of the 1980s. Deputed Testamony died on September 18, 2012, aged 32.

Maryland Million Sprint Handicap is an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually in October since 1986 primarily at Laurel Park Racecourse in Laurel, Maryland or at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. To be eligible for the Maryland Million Sprint Handicap, a horse must be sired by a stallion who stands in Maryland. Due to that restriction the race is classified as a non-graded or "listed" stakes race and is not eligible for grading by the American Graded Stakes Committee.

Eddington is a millionaire American Thoroughbred racehorse and successful sire bred in Kentucky by Carl Rosen and Associates and raced under the Willmott Stables banner. He finished racing with a record of 6-3-6 in 17 starts and career earnings of $1,216,760.
