Pro Wrestling Elite (PWE) was an independent professional wrestling promotion based in Ayr, Scotland, UK. It was owned and operated by Adrian "Lionheart" McAllum [1] [2] [3] until his death by suicide on 19 June 2019. [4] [5] [6]
PWE debuted on 9 July 2011 [7] with Birth of the Elite which featured Noam Dar, Kris Travis, BT Gunn, Kay Lee Ray, Mikey Whiplash and Wolfgang. [8] [9]
On 16 September 2012, PWE crowned their first PWE World Heavyweight Champion when Andy Wild was victorious in a two-night tournament that included El Ligero, Nick Aldis, Noam Dar, Wolfgang and others. [10] [11] [12]
PWE promoted a number of notable international and UK talent, including AJ Styles, Drew Galloway, Joe Coffey, Zack Sabre Jr., Samoa Joe, Mark Haskins, Nikki Storm, Robbie E, X-Pac, Billy Gunn, Dave Mastiff, Mickie James, Mark Coffey, Kenny Williams, Big Damo, Joe Hendry, Stevie Xavier, James Storm, Mr. Anderson, Bram, Rockstar Spud, Chris Masters and Pete Dunne. PWE also hosted a ROH World Tag Team Championship match with The Addiction (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) defending against The Coffey Brothers. [13] [14] [15] [16] [17]
After McAllum's death, PWE's final event, 8th Anniversary Show, took place with the Scottish wrestling scene ensuring it still took place as a tribute to McAllum. [18] [19] [20] [21]
This final event featured Leyton Buzzard, Kez Evans, Aaron Echo, Daz Black, Liam Thomson and saw Andy Wild defeat BT Gunn and Alexander Dean to win the vacant Union of European Wrestling Alliances European Heavyweight Championship left vacant by Lionheart's death, as well as Grado defeating Jackie Polo to win the PWE World Heavyweight Championship. Though PWE is inactive, Grado has continued to defend the PWE World Heavyweight Championship [24] at events like British Championship Wrestling's Believe: A Night to Remember Lionheart (vs. Sha Samuels) [25] and for his own Grado's Big Family Bash specials, where he has traded the title with Jack Jester. The ICW World Heavyweight Championship is a professional wrestling world heavyweight championship owned by Scotland's Insane Championship Wrestling promotion. The title was first established as the ICW National Heavyweight Championship at ICW's debut show on October 15, 2006, with Drew Galloway becoming the inaugural champion. On February 7, 2015, the title was officially renamed the ICW World Heavyweight Championship after Galloway successfully defended the title in a match against Matt Hardy for the Family Wrestling Entertainment promotion in New York. Lee John Greig is a Scottish professional wrestler and actor, better known by his ring name Jack Jester He wrestles for numerous promotions in the British independent wrestling circuit, but is best known for his work in Insane Championship wrestling where he is the current ICW World Heavyweight Champion. Greig is a Wrestling Coach at GPWA Glasgow Asylum and goal in life is to be in more panto’s than Biggins.
Adrian McCallum was a British professional wrestler, professional wrestling promoter and actor, better known by his ring name Lionheart. He wrestled for numerous promotions in the British Independent wrestling circuit including Insane Championship Wrestling, in which he reigned as the ICW World Heavyweight Champion until his death, and Preston City Wrestling. He was also the owner of Ayrshire-based wrestling promotion Pro Wrestling Elite.
Joseph Coffey is a Scottish professional wrestler currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the NXT brand as the leader of Gallus. Coffey wrestles for numerous promotions in the British independent wrestling circuit, including Insane Championship Wrestling where he is former 2 time ICW World Heavyweight Champion and a former ICW Zero-G Champion. Coffey has also previously competed in Japan for Pro Wrestling ZERO1 where he became the first ever Scottish wrestler to perform in the Korakuen Hall. Coffey's younger brother Mark Coffey is also a professional wrestler and the pair often tag team together as "The Coffey Brothers".
Noam Dar is a Scottish-Israeli professional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the NXT brand. He is the leader of The Meta-Four stable and has held the NXT Heritage Cup a record-setting three times. He is also known for his tenure with Scottish promotion Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW).
Alan Niddrie better known by his ring name Kenny Williams, is a Scottish professional wrestler. He is most well known for his time in WWE where he competed on the NXT UK brand.
Kris Travis was a British professional wrestler. He was a staple of the UK and European independent wrestling scenes, working for companies such as PROGRESS Wrestling, Insane Championship Wrestling, Preston City Wrestling, Premier British Wrestling, Revolution Pro Wrestling, Westside Xtreme Wrestling, British Championship Wrestling, One Pro Wrestling, Total Nonstop Action, Frontier Wrestling Alliance and others, until his death in 2016.
