Rahul Rajiv Gandhi is an Indian politician. A member of the Indian National Congress (INC),he is currently serving as the 12th leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and as the member of the Lok Sabha for Rae Bareli,Uttar Pradesh,since June 2024. He previously represented the constituency of Wayanad,Kerala,from 2019 to 2024,and Amethi,Uttar Pradesh,from 2004 to 2019. Gandhi served as the party president of the Indian National Congress from December 2017 to July 2019 and is the chairperson of the Indian Youth Congress,the National Students Union of India,and a trustee of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust. He is a member of the Nehru–Gandhi political family.

Pinarayi Vijayan is an Indian politician who serves as the Chief Minister of Kerala since 25 May 2016. He has also served as Minister of Electric Power and Co-operatives during the third E. K. Nayanar ministry. Vijayan won a seat in the May 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly election and 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly election as the CPI(M) candidate for Dharmadom constituency and was selected as the leader of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and became the 12th Chief Minister of Kerala. He is the first chief minister from Kerala to be re-elected after completing a full term in office. In 2022,he also became the longest-continuous serving chief minister of Kerala surpassing C. Achutha Menon who had been the first to remain in office for 2364 consecutive days.

The United Front was a political coalition in West Bengal,India,formed shortly after the 1967 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election. Soon after its formation,a massive rally was held in Calcutta,at which an 18-point programme of the Front was presented. Ajoy Mukherjee,leader of the Bangla Congress,was the head of the United Front.

Plathottathil Chacko George is an Indian politician representing the Bharatiya Janata Party. George is a seven-time former MLA of the Poonjar constituency in the Kottayam district of Kerala state (1982-87) and (1996-2021). He was in the Kerala Legislative Assembly for 33 years. After the legislative election in 2016,he created his own party named as Kerala Janapaksham (Secular). Formerly,he was the member of political parties like KC,KC(J),KC(M) and KC(S). Prior to the 2024 Indian general election,his party Kerala Janapaksham (Secular) merged with the BJP.
P. C. Chacko is a former Member of Parliament from Thrissur Lok Sabha seat in Kerala. He is a former member of the Indian National Congress. Chacko resigned from Indian National Congress on 10 March 2021,stating that it had become difficult to be a congress leader in Kerala. P.C. Chacko is the first president of Thiruvananthapuram District committee of Kerala Students Union. He was the State president of Indian youth Congress from 1970 to 1973 and held the post of national General secretary of Indian youth Congress during 1973 - 1975. He became the general secretary of KPCC in 1975 and continued till 1979. He was elected to the Kerala Assembly in 1980 from Piravom constituency and during 1980- 81 he served as Minister for Industries in the state cabinet. He was elected to Loksabha in 1991 from Thrissur,in 1996 from Mukundapuram,in 1998 from Idukki and in 2009 again from Thrissur. On 16 March 2021 he joined Nationalist Congress Party,which is an ally of LDF in Kerala. He was appointed President of the Kerala State Unit of Nationalist Congress Party by the National President Sri. Sharad Pawar on 19 May 2021.
Chandra Rajeswara Rao was an Indian communist politician. He was one of the leaders of the Telangana Rebellion (1946–1951). He also worked as the general secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) for 28 years before giving up the post in 1992 for health reasons.
Elections were held in Indian state of West Bengal in February 1969 to elect 280 members to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. United Front formed the government with Ajoy Mukherjee as the Chief Minister. United Front won a landslide 214 seats and 49.7% of the votes.
In 1964,a major split occurred in the Communist Party of India. The split was the culmination of decades of tensions and factional infighting. When India became independent in 1947,differences arose of how to adapt to the new situation. As relations between the Nehru government and the Soviet Union improved,a faction that sought cooperation with the dominant Indian National Congress emerged within CPI. This tendency was led by S.A. Dange,whose role in the party hierarchy became increasingly controversial. When the Sino-Indian War broke out in 1962 Dange's opponents within CPI were jailed,but when they were released they sought to challenge his leadership. In 1964 the party was finally divided into two,with the left faction forming the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The split had a lot of regional variations. It also impacted other organizations,such as trade union and peasant movements. The split has been studied extensively by scholars,who have sought to analyze the various domestic and international factors involved.
C. P. John is an Indian politician and the General Secretary of the Communist Marxist Party. He is the National executive member of Hind Mazdoor Sabha. He was the Vice President of Students' Federation of India (SFI) Central committee during 1978 and the youngest President of Kerala State committee of SFI. He served two terms as a member of Kerala State Planning Board.
