Public Security Division is a Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Bangladesh. It is responsible for public security and overseas the civilian security agencies of Bangladesh. [1] Jahangir Alam is the current head of the Division and holds the rank of Secretary. [2] [3]

History

Public Security Division is the part of the Ministry of Home Affairs which was established in 1971 by the Government of Bangladesh in exile during the Bangladesh Liberation war. [1] In June 2016, the Government of Bangladesh divided the Ministry of Home Affairs into two Divisions, Public Security Division and the Security Service Division. [4] [5] The official gazette on the split was issued in 2017. [6]

Its officers and sailors are transferred from the Bangladesh Navy, and most of the medical officers are transferred from the Bangladesh Army. The Bangladesh Coast Guard also performs the duty of maritime border security of Bangladesh. The headquarters is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The coast guard has 3,339 personnel and 63 ships. A modernisation plan named Coast Guard Goal 2030 was undertaken to enhance its capabilities.

Security Service Division is a Bangladesh government division under the Ministry of Home Affairs of Bangladesh responsible for agencies under the ministry that are not law enforcement. Md. Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury is a government secretary and current in charge of the division.

Secondary and Higher Education Division is a Bangladesh government division under the Ministry of Education responsible for secondary and higher education in Bangladesh. It is the highest policy making body concerning Secondary and Tertiary education in Bangladesh. It is responsible for overseeing 25227 High schools and 37 public universities and 92 private universities. Md. Sohorab Hossain is the Secretary and Head of the Division.

National Committee on Security Affairs (NCSA) is the highest policy-making authority on national security of the Government of Bangladesh. Headed by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed, the committee was formed in March 2019 after 'the National Defence Policy-2018' was approved by the Cabinet of Bangladesh. The committee consists of 27 members.

Md Mozammel Haque Khan is the former Senior Secretary and the former Commissioner of Anti-Corruption Commission. He is the Chief National Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts and President of Bangladesh Karate Federation.

Mostafa Kamal Uddin is a retired senior secretary and currently the chairman of Bangladesh Biman, the national airlines of Bangladesh.

Md Mustafizur Rahman is a retired secretary of the Bangladesh Ministry of Home Affairs. He is the former secretary of the Ministry of Land.

Md. Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury secretary of the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs for Bangladesh. He was the additional secretary of the Security and Immigration Wing.
