Punjab Youth (also known as Chief Minister Youth Development Programme) is a youth development programme running by the Government of the Punjab, Pakistan. Its chairman is CM Shahbaz Sharif.

The project distributes about 100,000 laptops annually to the graduate and undergraduate students currently studying in the government institutions in Punjab. [1]

The students and alumni of SLIET are informally referred to as SLIETians.

The Chief Minister of Punjab is the head of government of the Pakistani province of Punjab. The chief minister leads the legislative branch of the provincial government, and is elected by the Provincial Assembly. Manohar Singh Gill, famous as M. S. Gill is a retired Indian bureaucrat, politician, and writer. As a bureaucrat, he served as a member of the Indian Administrative Service from 1958 until his retirement in 2001 as the Chief Election Commissioner of India. Upon his retirement, he joined the Indian National Congress and was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab in 2004 and served as a member of the upper house until his retirement upon completion of his two six-year terms in 2016. Prime Minister's Youth Programme is an initiative by the former prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif established in 2013. The purpose of the programme is to ensure the provision of quality education, and meaningful employment to the youth through integrated, sustainable youth initiatives. The programme provided government-subsidised business loans of up to 25 million rupees, under three tiers: first-tier for 10000 to 1 million, the second tier for 1 million to 10 million, and the third tier for 10 million to 25 million. The programme also provided a skills scholarship program, a talent hunt for youth sports, and a national youth council.

Free Laptop Distribution scheme : मुफ्त लैपटॉप वितरण योजना -: This is an initiative of the Government of Uttar Pradesh headed by Akhilesh Singh Yadav of Samajwadi Party to provide 100,000 (US$1,300) for laptops and computer tablets to the students in the state who pass the high school and intermediate examinations to encourage them for higher studies. A total of 15 Lakh laptops have been distributed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh between 2012-2015, making it one of the largest distribution scheme ever imitation by any Government in the world.

Parkash Singh Badal was an Indian politician who served as the 8th Chief Minister of Punjab from 1970 to 1971, from 1977 to 1980, from 1997 to 2002, and from 2007 to 2017. He was also Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Legislative Assembly from 1972 to 1977, 1980 to 1983 and from 2002 to 2007 and the 11th Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare in the Morarji Desai ministry from 1977 to 1977. He was the patron of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), a Sikh-centered regional political party, and the president of the party from 1995 to 2008, when he was replaced by his son Sukhbir Singh Badal. As the patron of SAD he exercised a strong influence on the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. The Government of India awarded him the second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2015.

Anil Mehta is a Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) politician who is currently working as the Deputy Advocate General (DAG) for State of Haryana in Punjab & Haryana High Court at Chandigarh. He is also representing the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana in a programme called "CONNECT2CM", an initiative of its own kind by any State Government wherein the Chief Minister would have a direct dialogue with youth from the age group of 16 to 35. The whole idea to launch this programme is to have the first hand information from the youth, the future of India with regard to the working and betterment of the State Government.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Harpal Singh Cheema</span> Indian politician

Harpal Singh Cheema is an Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Dirba Assembly constituency located in Sangrur District, Punjab. In March 2022, he became first dalit to be a finance minister of Punjab. He joined the Aam Aadmi Party just before the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly election. He contested and won the election from Dirba Assembly constituency against a popular Punjabi Kabbadi player Gulzar Singh Moonak from Shiromani Akali Dal and Ajaib Singh Ratolan from Indian National Congress. In July 2018 he was appointed leader of opposition of Punjab Legislative Assembly.

e-Rozgaar Progam is flagship project of Youth Affairs & Sports Department, Government of Punjab and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) which provides training to young graduates of Punjab province in digital skills and freelancing. e-Rozgaar Program offers courses like Technical, Content Marketing & Advertising, Creative Designing, E-Commerce, Mobile App Development, Digital & Social Media Marketing, and UI/UX Design while freelancing is taught will all courses.

The Aam Aadmi Party Punjab or AAP Punjab is the Punjab state wing of Aam Aadmi Party and a recognised State party in Punjab. Currently, it is the governing party in the Punjab Legislative Assembly and has significant representation of the state in Rajya Sabha.
