Pure Energy: the very best of Information Society is a compilation album by the synthpop band Information Society. It is generally poorly regarded by band members.[ citation needed ]
This album contains tracks from the albums Don't Be Afraid (done by Kurt Harland alone) and InSoc Recombinant (a remix album, again a solo work by Harland), along with different mixes of "Are Friends Electric?" and "What's On Your Mind", and a cover version of a Madonna song (which had been made for Cleopatra's tribute album entitled "Virgin Voices Vol. 1: A Tribute To Madonna").
The album was produced by Cleopatra Records from archived material without any involvement from the band. Despite being listed in the liner notes as the album's producer, singer Harland did not work on it, and did not know of it before it was released.[ citation needed ]
Paul Robb says this is "not an Information Society record" and "an insult to both the band and the fans". He also detested the cover art, calling it "dreadful".
Despite refusing to "endorse or un-endorse" it, Harland expressed a strong dislike regarding the cover art, for being poorly done and for depicting him bearing a firearm.
The band has referred to it in their MySpace blog as "that horrible Cleopatra abomination".

Jonathan Michael Richman is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. In 1970, he founded the Modern Lovers, an influential proto-punk band. Since the mid-1970s, Richman has worked either solo or with low-key acoustic and electric backing. He now plays only acoustic to protect his hearing. He is known for his wide-eyed, unaffected, and childlike outlook, and music that, while rooted in rock and roll, is influenced by music from around the world.
Information Society is an American band from Minneapolis–St. Paul, Minnesota, initially active from 1982 to 1997, primarily consisting of Kurt Harland Larson, Paul Robb, and James Cassidy; the latter two reconvened the band in 2006, initially with Christopher Anton as lead vocalist, then with Harland rejoining them as lead vocalist by 2008.

"Give Peace a Chance" is an anti-war song written by John Lennon, and recorded with the participation of a small group of friends in a performance with Yoko Ono in a hotel room in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Released as a single in July 1969 by the Plastic Ono Band on Apple Records, it is the first solo single issued by Lennon, released while he was still a member of the Beatles, and became an anthem of the American anti-war movement during the 1970s. Through the Wilderness is a tribute album with contributions from a variety of artists dedicated to American singer Madonna. It was released on November 27, 2007, by Los Angeles-based Manimal Vinyl Records. According to label head Paul Beahan, the idea for the album was conceived by him in a dream. He enlisted multiple artists to work on the project, including Giant Drag, Lavender Diamond, Winter Flowers and Chapin Sisters. Although he's not a fan of Madonna, Beahan wanted to see how her songs would sound when covered by different musicians.
