Pyunik Stadium (Armenian : Փյունիկ Մարզադաշտ), is an all-seater football stadium located on 7 Masis street, Kentron District, Yerevan, Armenia. [1] It was built and opened in 2004. With a capacity of 770 seats, the stadium is home to Pyunik-2 of the Armenian First League.

The stadium was opened in 2004 as part of the Pyunik Training Centre which was formerly known as the Kilikia Sports Complex.

Pyunik Training Centre

Pyunik Training Centre is the training ground and academy base of the Armenian football club FC Pyunik. It was opened in 2004 on the grounds of the former Kilikia Football School in the Kentron District of the capital Yerevan.

In 2016, the stadium was renovated and the pitch was covered with an up-to-date artificial turf. [2]

A large fitness center, a tennis complex and a small hotel are found adjacent to the stadium.

The stadium is the regular home of the Armenian First League side Pyunik-2. It is sometimes used by Pyunik as well for their Armenian Premier League matches. In 2017-18, the stadium has also served as the home venue of Artsakh FC at the Armenian First League.

The Armenian First League is currently the second level football competition in Armenia after the Armenian Premier League. The competition exists mostly out of reserve teams of several Premier League clubs; however, other teams also participate. The reserve teams are not eligible for promotion to the highest level, resulting in situations where a club promotes even when they finish the season in a mid-table position.

Armenian Premier League sports league

The Armenian Premier League is the top football competition in Armenia. From 1936 to 1991, the competition was held as a regional tournament within the USSR. After independence, the Football Federation of Armenia has been the unit in charge. Over the years, the league has evolved into a small league consisting of nine teams. The winner of the league is awarded a spot in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.
