The Quassapaug Sailing Center (QSC) is a nonprofit educational institution located on Middlebury, Connecticut, on the shore of Lake Quassapaug.
The Sailing Center provides educational and recreational sailing programs to those who wish to develop competent sailors skills for small boat racing, pleasure, or large boat sailing in coastal waters, as well as family sailing. [1] [2]
The building was built in 1927 by the Whittemore family, of Middlebury, originally a summer retreat for children from Waterbury. In 1945, it became the new location for the Lake Quassapaug Yacht Club as well as being used by the Waterbury Boys and Girls Club for a summer camp. The Yacht Club remained in the location until 2003. At that time, the newly formed Quassapaug Sailing Center, Inc. purchased the property.
Quassapaug Sailing Center has fleets of 420, Optimist and Snipe. [3]
Currently, QSC operates a summer camp program from June to August for kids ages 9-16 to learn how to sail and explore nature. Camp "Sails & Trails" offers classes for 420 and Opti sailors along with a nature curriculum.

The Albacore is a 4.57 m (15 ft) two-person planing dinghy, for competitive racing and lake and near-inshore day sailing. Hulls are made of either wood or fiberglass. The basic shape was developed in 1954 from an Uffa Fox design, the Swordfish. Recent boats retain the same classic dimensions, and use modern materials and modern control systems, making it ideal for the recently graduated college racer, as well as those with less experience.
The International 420 Dinghy is a sailing dinghy popular for racing and teaching. The hull is fiberglass with internal buoyancy tanks. The 420 has a bermuda rig and an optional spinnaker and trapeze. It has a large sail-area-to-weight ratio, and is designed to plane easily. It can be rigged to be sailed single-handed or double-handed. The 420 is an International class recognized by World Sailing. The name refers to the boat's length of 420 centimetres.

The Snipe is a 15+1⁄2 foot, 2 person, one design racing dinghy. Designed by William F. Crosby in 1931, it has evolved into a modern, tactical racing dinghy with fleets around the world. The class is governed by the Snipe Class International Racing Association (SCIRA) and recognized by the International Sailing Federation as an International Class sailed in 30 countries. There have been over 31,000 Snipes constructed worldwide.

A sailing yacht, is a leisure craft that uses sails as its primary means of propulsion. A yacht may be a sail or power vessel used for pleasure, cruising, or racing. There is no standard definition, so the term applies here to sailing vessels that have a cabin with amenities that accommodate overnight use. To be termed a "yacht", as opposed to a "boat", such a vessel is likely to be at least 33 feet (10 m) in length and have been judged to have good aesthetic qualities. Sailboats that do not accommodate overnight use or are smaller than 30 feet (9.1 m) are not universally called yachts. Sailing yachts in excess of 130 feet (40 m) are generally considered to be superyachts.

Helsingfors Segelsällskap (HSS), Helsinki Sailing Society, is the second oldest yacht club in Helsinki, established in 1893. The yacht club has 1000+ members and mainly sail boats in the register. The club is located on Liuskasaari island in the middle of southern Helsinki. Liuskasaari is a few minutes ferry ride away from Merisatamanranta.
