Ralph Joe Palmer II (born December 25,1970) is an American politician from the state of Kentucky. A member of the Democratic Party,he served in the Kentucky State Senate from September 19,2001,to January 1,2015. Palmer was the minority leader of the Kentucky Senate from January 4,2011,to January 1,2015.
Palmer is from Winchester,Kentucky. He was first elected to the house in 1998 when incumbent representative Drew Graham retired to run for Judge/Executive of Clark County. [1] He served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from January 1,1999,through September 19,2001,and served in the Kentucky Senate from 2001 until he was defeated by challenger Ralph Alvarado and replaced in 2015. [2] His senate district included Bath,Bourbon,Clark,Harrison,Montgomery,Nicholas counties.

He was the first Kentucky governor from the state's far-western Jackson Purchase region. Thelma Stovall,who served as lieutenant governor with him,was the first woman to be elected lieutenant governor of Kentucky.
Ernest Lee Fletcher is an American physician and politician who was the 60th governor of Kentucky from 2003 to 2007. He previously served three consecutive terms in the United States House of Representatives before resigning after being elected governor. A member of the Republican Party,Fletcher was a family practice physician and a Baptist lay minister and is the second physician to be elected Governor of Kentucky;the first was Luke P. Blackburn in 1879. He was also the first Republican governor of Kentucky since Louie Nunn left office in 1971.
Paul Edward Patton is an American politician who served as the 59th governor of Kentucky from 1995 to 2003. David Lewis Williams is an American attorney,Republican politician,and a judge from the U.S. state of Kentucky. From the year 1987 to 2012,Williams represented Senate District 16,a position he secured upon the retirement of fellow Republican Doug Moseley. When Republicans gained control of the state senate in 2000,Williams was chosen as President of the Senate,and held that post continuously until his resignation in November 2012. In September 2010,he announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for governor in the 2011 gubernatorial election. On May 17,2011,Williams secured the Republican nomination over Tea Party movement-backed Phil Moffet. However,he lost the general election by twenty points to incumbent Democratic Governor Steve Beshear. In November 2012,Williams resigned his Senate seat to accept a circuit court judgeship.
The Kentucky Democratic Party is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is currently the minority party in the state,as the rival Republican Party of Kentucky overwhelmingly dominates in the state legislature,congressional delegation,and presidential elections. However,the party does currently control the governorship and lieutenant governorship,and maintains some strength in local elections.

Les Yates is an American politician from Kentucky currently serving as Judge/Executive of Clark County. Yates was elected Judge/Executive in 2022,after Democratic incumbent Henry Branham retired. Yates was previously a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021. He was elected to the house in 2018,but defeated for renomination in 2020 by Ryan Dotson.
Drew Graham is an American politician from Kentucky who was a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1993 to 1999. Graham was first elected in 1992 after defeating incumbent representative Paul Richardson in the May primary election. He did not seek reelection in 1998,instead successfully running for Judge/Executive of Clark County.
The seat was vacated by Rep. Drew Graham, D-Winchester, who was elected Clark County judge-executive.
