Dr. R. Latha Devi is an Indian politician from Kerala. She represented Chadayamangalam constituency in 10th Kerala Legislative Assembly.
Dr. R. Latha Devi was born to C.N. Raghavan Pillai and C. Devakiamma on 30 July 1963 at Charipparampu,Ittiva Panchayat (Kollam District).[ citation needed ] She did her schooling at Govt. Higher School Kadakkal and pursued her higher education from SN college Kollam and University College Thiruvananthapuram. The CPI leader secured 1st rank in MA history and later completed her Ph.D. in 2003,both from the University of Kerala. She worked as the Associate professor (Dept. of History) in SN college Varkala until 2019. [1]
She was an active member of the All India Students Federation (AISF) and All India Youth Federation (AIYF) during her student days and later became State Vice President and women’s wing convener of these organizations. She came to the limelight by leading thirty-three days long women’s foot march in the year 1988 for overall development and employment organized by AIYF covering more than 600kms from Kasarkode to Thiruvananthapuram,which was the first of its kind in Kerala by a youth organization. In the year 1996,she successfully contested from Chadayamangalam assembly constituency and became a member of the 10th Kerala Legislative Assembly. [2] The CPI leader has held several positions such as National council member of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS),member of syndicate (University of Kerala), [3] member of CPI Kerala State Executive,and was President of various organizations such as Kerala Mahila Sangham (NFIW),Kerala Mahila Pradhan and SAS Union (AITUC),Progressive Federation of College Teachers. She is presently a member of the CPI State Council [4] and State Joint Secretary of Kerala Mahila Sangham (NFIW).[ citation needed ]
She is married to Adv. G.R. Anil who is currently serving as Minister handling portfolios of Legal metrology,Consumer Affairs,Food,and Civil supplies in the Pinarayi Vijayan Government. [5]

Padayatt Kesavapillai Vasudevan Nair,popularly known as PKV,was an Indian politician and lawyer who served as the 7th Chief Minister of Kerala from 1978 to 1979. He was a Member of the Lok Sabha from 1957 to 1971 and again from 2004 until his death in 2005. He became Chief Minister on 29 October 1978,following A. K. Antony's resignation as Chief Minister. However he resigned on 7 October 1979 owing to differences with other parties in the United Front. He served in the Kerala Legislative Assembly from 1977 to 1982. Veliyam Bharghavan was a Communist leader from the Kerala,India. He was the state Secretary of Communist Party of India (CPI) from 1998 to 2010. In 2010 he retired from that position due to his health issues. He hails from Veliyam village of Kollam district. He was an advocate of a merger between CPI and Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM). He was a member of the first Legislative Assembly of Kerala,winning the 1957 and 1960(interim) assembly elections from the Chadayamangalam Constituency. R. Selvaraj was a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Neyyattinkara constituency,Thiruvananthapuram,Kerala,India. He was a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist),the present ruling party in Kerala but resigned from the Kerala Legislature and the party on 9 March 2012 and joined Indian National Congress party. His resignation was attributed to rampant factionalism in his party. After joining the Indian National Congress,he contested the by-election from Neyyattinkara on "Hand" symbol and romped home with a margin of 6,334 votes,pushing up the ruling UDF's slender majority in the 140-member Kerala Assembly to 73. He again contested from the same constituency in 2016 and 2021. but he got defeated in both elections,i.e. for 9543 votes in 2016 and it increased to 14262 votes in 2021. He was defeated by K. Ansalan of CPI(M) in both elections.
