R. Sukumaran is an Indian film director.

Sukumaran's entry into film-making was incidental. While on an exhibition in Germany, he was invited to make a movie and thus began his work as a director. His first movie was Paadha Mudra which was both critically and commercially successful. The movie explored the father-son relationship. This was followed by Rajashilpi which bordered on the realms of fantasy. Yugapurushan , released in February 2010, had been in the making for over fifteen years. [1]

Though Sukumaran has made few films, they were "enough to establish him as a filmmaker worth reckoning" with and to give him a reputation in Malayalam cinema. [2]

He studied painting and mastered water color as well as oil color under Artist Mouttathu K Raman Unnithan (Medayil Bungalow) at Pallickal, Nooranadu in a gurukula sampradaya for several years.

Abrahaminte Santhathikal is an Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film released in 2018, directed by debutant Shaji Padoor and written by Haneef Adeni. The film stars Mammootty and Anson Paul in the lead roles and pivotal roles of Kaniha, Tarushi, Renji Panicker, Yog Japee and Kalabhavan Shajon. Shot in Ernakulam, principal photography began on 5 January 2018 and ended in March. Gopi Sundar scores music for the film, and Mahesh Narayan handles editing.

Kaduva (transl. Tiger) is a 2022 Indian Malayalam-language action film directed by Shaji Kailas, written by Jinu V. Abraham and produced by Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames. It stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the titular role, alongside Vivek Oberoi, Samyuktha Menon, Arjun Ashokan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Baiju Santhosh and Kalabhavan Shajohn. Set in 1990s, Kaduva revolves around an ego war between Kaduvakunnel Kuriyachan, an influential businessman, and I.G. Joseph Chandy.
