Rabiul Alam (1939 - 18 April, 1987 [1] )was a Bangladeshi film actor. He was known for acting in comic roles. [2] [3] He appeared in over 100 movies. [4]

Biography

Alam made his debut in Dhallywood with Akash Ar Mati in 1959. [5] He also appeared in films like Nil Akasher Niche , Chowdhury Bari, Alor Michil , Gunda and Chhutir Ghonta .

Alam died in 1987. [5]

The Bengali-language film industry based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has been significant since the early 1970s. It is better known by the popular term Dhallywood, which is a portmanteau of "Dhaka" and "Hollywood". The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day. Cinema was introduced in Bangladesh in 1898 by the Bradford Bioscope Company, credited to have arranged the first film release in Bangladesh. Between 1913 and 1914, the first production company, Picture House, was opened. A 1928 short silent film titled Sukumari was the first Bengali-produced film in the region. The first full-length film, The Last Kiss, was released in 1931.

Abdul Gaffar Choudhury was a Bangladeshi-born British writer, journalist, columnist, political analyst and poet. He wrote the lyrics to "Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano", a widely celebrated song commemorating the Bengali Language Movement. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1967, Ekushey Padak in 1983, and Independence Day Award in 2009.

Azizur Rahman was a Bangladeshi film director. His directorial debut was the 1967 film, Saiful Mulk Badiuzzamal. During his career, he directed 53 films in total. His notable films include Chhutir Ghonta (1980) and Ashikkhito (1978).

Anwarul Islam was a Bangladeshi cinematographer and film director. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Cinematography for the film Charitraheen (1975).

Akash Ar Mati is a 1959 black and white film directed by Fateh Lohani and produced by Film Development Corporation (FDC). It was the first sound feature produced in East Pakistan including post-production, though like Mukh O Mukhosh, the first Bengali-language film made in East Pakistan, it used some cast and crew from the West Bengal film industry.

Alor Michil is a 1974 Bangladeshi patriotic film which focuses on the independence movement of 1971. Written and directed by Narayan Ghosh Mita, it stars Abdur Razzak, Babita, Farooque and Anwar Hussain in lead roles. It has been selected for preservation by the Bangladesh Film Archive.

Gazi Mazharul Anwar was a Bangladeshi film director, producer, lyricist, screenwriter and music director. He earned the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Lyricist a record seven times for the films Tit for Tat (1992), Ajante (1996), Churiwala (2001), Lal Dariya (2002), Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti (2003), Meyeti Ekhon Kothay Jabe (2016) and Joiboti Konyar Mon (2021). He worked as a lyricist in the "Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra". He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2002 and Independence Day Award in 2021 by the government of Bangladesh.
