William Augustine Whelan, also known as Billy Whelan or Liam Whelan, was an Irish footballer and one of the eight Manchester United players who were killed in the Munich air disaster. He was 22 years old when he died.

St Vincents is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Marino, on the northside of Dublin, Ireland. The club was founded in 1931 in Marino, instrumental in the founding of the club were Rev Dr William Fitzpatrick and Bro. Ernest Fitzgerald. Although its club grounds were in Raheny for a number of years, it moved to its home back into Marino in 1987. St Vincents merged with Marino Camogie Club in 1997 to form the St Vincents Hurling, Football and Camogie Club. They have won the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship on three occasions, most recently in 2014. They are the most successful side in the Dublin Senior Football championship having won the title 29 times. The club has also won 13 Dublin Senior 1 camogie titles and completed a three in a row in 2015–2017.

Naomh Olaf is a Gaelic Athletic Association club which was founded in 1981 to provide facilities for encouraging the sporting abilities of the people of the developing parish of Balally in south County Dublin, Ireland. A club house was built and players were recruited from around the area, most of them coming from the local schools of St Olaf's, Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille, St Benildus College, and St Tiernan's. In recent years more and more players are coming from the Leopardstown and Stepaside areas.

Mary O'Connor is an Irish sportsperson. A dual player, she played both ladies' Gaelic football and camogie. As a footballer O Connor has played with her local clubs Donoughmore and Inch Rovers and was a member of the Cork county ladies' football team at senior level from 1994 until 2010. She has won five All-Ireland titles. As a camogie player O'Connor played for her local club Killeagh and was a member of the Cork county camogie team at senior level since 1996. Since then she has won seven All-Ireland titles. O'Connor is one of the most decorated players in the history of Gaelic games. Winner of All Ireland camogie medals in 1997, 1998, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009 and All Star awards in 2005, 2006 and 2009.
Anne Griffin is a camogie player and a member of the Dublin junior squad that won the All-Ireland in 2005 and 2006. She is a member of Ballyboden St Endas winning senior championships in 2006 and 2008 as well as a Leinster club title in 2008. An insurance representative, Anne was nominated for a Gala Performance award in 2009.
Alison Maguire is a camogie player for Dublin and UCD with whom she won an Ashbourne Cup medal in 2008 and an Ashbourne All Star award in 2010. She is a member of the St Vincent's club. She won an All-Ireland Féile na nGael medal in 2003 and has two senior Dublin championship honours and four senior league medals. Maguire was named Dublin Junior player of the year in 2006. With a total of 0-18 she was the eighth highest scoring player in the Senior Championship of 2011.
Catríona Power is a camogie player and Occupational Therapist who won Junior All-Ireland championship medals with Dublin in 2005 and 2006. She also captained Naomh Mearnóg from Portmarnock to their first Dublin senior championship title in 2009, the first senior title in any code for the club. She was Club Player of the Year in 2007.
Clíodhna O'Connor is a former senior Dublin ladies' footballer. She was a member of the Dublin team that won the All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship in 2010. She also played for Dublin in the 2003, 2004, 2009 and 2014 finals. She captained Dublin during the 2011 season. In 2004 and 2009 she was selected as an All Star and in 2010 she was included in the LGFA/TG4 Team of the Decade. She also played for the Ireland women's international rules football team. Since retiring as a player, O'Connor has coached Ladies' Gaelic football and hurling. She was a member of the coaching team at Cuala when they won the 2017 and 2018 All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship Finals. In 2019 she became a member of the Dublin senior hurling team coaching staff.
Judy Doyle is a former camogie player who was one of the leading goalscorers of her generation, the scorer of three goals for Dublin against Tipperary in the 1961 All Ireland final, four goals for Dublin against Antrim in the 1964 All Ireland final and five goals for Dublin against Tipperary in the 1965 All Ireland final. She won six All Ireland senior medals in all. She won six All Ireland medals from 1961 to 1966 and five Gael Linn Cup medals.
