Rachel F. Moran (born 1956) is an American lawyer who is currently a Distinguished Professor at UC Irvine School of Law. [1] She was previously the Michael J. Connell Distinguished Professor of Law at UCLA School of Law. [2] She served as Dean of the UCLA School of Law from 2010 to 2015, and was a faculty member at UC Irvine School of Law from 2008 to 2010, and at UC Berkeley School of Law from 1983 to 2008. [3]
Moran was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and grew up in Yuma, Arizona. [2] Her father, Thomas Moran, was an Irish criminal defense attorney, and her mother, Josephine Moran, was a Mexican teacher and court interpreter. [4] [5]
She attended Stanford University, earning a Bachelor's in psychology in 1978. She then earned a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1981, and clerked for Chief Judge Wilfred Feinberg of the Second Circuit. Following a brief stint in private practice at Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe, Moran joined the faculty at UC Berkeley School of Law (then "Boalt Hall") as its first Latina law professor, [6] and taught there for 25 years. [3] After two years at UC Irvine School of Law as a founding faculty member, Moran was selected to become UCLA School of Law's eighth dean in 2010, and the first Latina dean of a top-ranked US law school. Moran's scholarship has focused on torts, education law (particularly bilingual education [4] ), civil rights, race and the law, and critical race theory.

She served in this capacity until June of 2022, when she stepped down to become chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was replaced by Russell Korobkin on an interim basis until a permanent successor is found.
Erwin Chemerinsky is an American legal scholar known for his studies of United States constitutional law and federal civil procedure. Since 2017, Chemerinsky has been the dean of the UC Berkeley School of Law. Previously, he also served as the inaugural dean of the University of California, Irvine School of Law from 2008 to 2017.

The Chicanx Latinx Law Review is a student-edited and produced law journal at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. Established in 1972, it is the first law journal in the United States to focus primarily on how law and policy affect the Chicana/o and Latina/o community within the country. Kevin R. Johnson is the Dean of the UC Davis School of Law. Before becoming a professor, he was a student at Harvard Law School where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review, served as a clerk to Judge Stephen Reinhardt of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and worked for law firm Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe. Johnson joined the faculty at the UC Davis School of Law in 1989, was named Associate Dean in 1998, and the Dean in 2008. Of Mexican American ancestry, he is the first Latino to head a law school in the UC system.

Patricia Zavella is an anthropologist and professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz in the Latin American and Latino Studies department. She has spent a career advancing Latina and Chicana feminism through her scholarship, teaching, and activism. She was president of the Association of Latina and Latino Anthropologists and has served on the executive board of the American Anthropological Association. In 2016, Zavella received the American Anthropological Association's award from the Committee on Gender Equity in Anthropology to recognize her career studying gender discrimination. The awards committee said Zavella’s career accomplishments advancing the status of women, and especially Latina and Chicana women have been exceptional. She has made critical contributions to understanding how gender, race, nation, and class intersect in specific contexts through her scholarship, teaching, advocacy, and mentorship. Zavella’s research focuses on migration, gender and health in Latina/o communities, Latino families in transition, feminist studies, and ethnographic research methods. She has worked on many collaborative projects, including an ongoing partnership with Xóchitl Castañeda where she wrote four articles some were in English and others in Spanish. The Society for the Anthropology of North America awarded Zavella the Distinguished Career Achievement in the Critical Study of North America Award in the year 2010. She has published many books including, most recently, "I'm Neither Here Nor There, Mexicans"Quotidian Struggles with Migration and Poverty, which focuses on working class Mexican Americans struggle for agency and identity in Santa Cruz County.
Hannah L. Buxbaum is vice president for international affairs at Indiana University. She is a professor at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana, where she holds the John E. Schiller Chair in Legal Ethics. She was appointed vice president for international affairs in 2018. From 2015-2018, she served as the inaugural academic director of the IU Europe Gateway in Berlin.
