Rachel Salzmann (born 8 December 1981) is a Swiss businesswoman and politician. [1]
Having obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Bern University of Applied Sciences specialized in Public Management,she worked at the Federal Department of Environment,Transport,Energy and Communications from 2012 to 2018,where she served as a personal advisor to Federal Council member Doris Leuthard. She then became head of Public and Regulatory Affairs at a Credit Suisse subsidiary,the Credit Suisse Energy Infrastructure Partners AG,before becoming chief of staff to the CEO of Swiss health insurance company CSS. She was named Vice-Chancellor of Switzerland by the Federal Council on 8 March 2024 and will replace Jörg De Bernardi on July 1,who held the role ad interim after the election of Viktor Rossi as Federal Chancellor of Switzerland. [3] [4]
The Federal Chancellor is the head of the Federal Chancellery of Switzerland,the oldest Swiss federal institution,established at the initiative of Napoleon in 1803. The officeholder acts as the general staff of the seven-member Federal Council. The Chancellor is not a member of the government and the office is not at all comparable to that of the Chancellor of Germany or the Chancellor of Austria.
The Federal Council is the federal cabinet of the Swiss Confederation. Its seven members also serve as the collective head of state and government of Switzerland. Since after World War II,the Federal Council is by convention a permanent grand coalition government composed of representatives of the country's major parties and language regions.

Afterwards,multiple cases related to the Italy clusters were discovered in multiple cantons,including Basel-City,Zürich,and Graubünden. Multiple isolated cases not related to the Italy clusters were also subsequently confirmed.
