Kosi Zone Zone in Nepal

Kosi or Koshi was one of the fourteen zones of Nepal until the restructure of zones to provinces. The headquarters of Kosi Zone was Biratnagar which was also its largest city. Budha Subba Temple (Manghim) or Budha Subba is a famous religious shrine of the eastern people of Nepal which is located at Bijayapur of Dharan, Nepal. The site is located on the top of the Seuti river bank, to small distance east of the Dantakali Temple. It is taken as an important place for religious people. Within the temple, two earthen piles have been raised which have the tradition of worshiping as the Budha Subba. The place has uniquely tip-less bamboo plants. The tips of these bamboos are believed to be broken by shots of slingshot used by Budha subba.Regarded by many as one of the, if not "The Most important cultural site of Eastern Nepal." The temple is crowded by people in Saturdays. Generally at Saturdays, sacrifices of rooster and pigs are made. The temple is systematically handled since 2015 BS.

Budha Subba Gold Cup Football tournament

Budha Subba Gold Cup is an annual international club-level knockout association football tournament in Nepal. The competition is held yearly in Dharan, Province No. 1 by Dharan Football Club every year in Nepal. The competition is the premier cup that has kept the aspiring Nepalese football alive and showcases the young and experienced talents from all of Nepal best clubs.

Dharan F.C. is a football club based in Dharan, Nepal. The club which plays its home game in Dharan Stadium also annually organizes Budha Subba Gold Cup. Due to A division centered around 14 clubs in Kathmandu, many talented footballing youths are forced to leave for Kathmandu for footballing career. This has impacted all parts of Nepal including Dharan. Hence, it is one of the reasons that there are no decent stadiums except in Kathmandu.

Tosham Hill range

Tosham hill range, located at and in the area around Tosham, with an average elevation of 207 meters, and the rocks exposed in and around Tosham hills are part of subsurface north-western spur of Alwar group of Delhi supergroup of Aravalli Mountain Range, belong to the Precambrian Malani igneous suite of rocks and have been dated at 732 Ma BP. This range in Aravalli Craton is a remnant of the outer ring of a fallen chamber of an extinct volcano. Tosham hill range covers the hills at Tosham, Khanak, and Riwasa as well as the small rocky outcrops at Nigana, Dulehri, Dharan, Dadam, and Kharkari Makhwan. Among these, Khanak hill is the largest in area and tallest in height.

Bishnupaduka is one of the holy places for Hindus. It is situated in the northwest part of Dharan, where the holy river Kokaha originated. Local people found a rock with two clear footprints and it is believed that the footprints are of Lord Vishnu. So the people built a small temple and called it Bishnupaduka temple.

Podaa Podi is the soundtrack album for 2012 Tamil film of the same name starring Silambarasan.

Municipal election for Dharan took place on 13 May 2022, with all 102 positions up for election across 20 wards. The electorate elected a mayor, a deputy mayor, 20 ward chairs and 80 ward members. An indirect election will also be held to elect five female members and an additional three female members from the Dalit and minority community to the municipal executive.

Harka Raj Sampang Rai is a Nepalese politician and the current mayor of Dharan. Rai is also a social activist. He has been elected as an independent candidate for the post Mayor, having 'Walking stick/Lauro' as the electoral symbol via the 2022 local election. He defeated Nepali Congress candidate Kishore Rai by receiving 20,821 votes.
