Raeda Saadeh (born 1977) is a Palestinian artist. She won the 2000 "The Young Artist of the Year Award," by the A. M. Qattan Foundation. [1]

Life

She was born in Umm al-Fahm, a Palestinian-populated city in the North of Israel. She received her BFA and MFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem. She studied at the School of Visual Arts. [2]

She lives and works in Jerusalem. [3]

Work

Saadeh works in photographs, installations, and performances. [4] In 2012, a monograph of Saadeh's work, Raeda Saadeh: Reframing Palestine was published edited by Rose Issa. [5] Abu Hatoum Narouz, writing for American Quarterly, argues that " Saadeh's work not only subverts the hegemonic visual dominance of the Israeli state but offers a context for thinking through visual liberation and sovereignty." [6]

Her work is in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, [7] Fonds régional d'art contemporain de Lorraine, [8] and Le Magasin. [9]

Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Art school in Jerusalem, Israel

Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design is a public college of design and art located in Jerusalem. Established in 1906 by Jewish painter and sculptor Boris Schatz, Bezalel is Israel's oldest institution of higher education and is considered the most prestigious art school in the country. It is named for the Biblical figure Bezalel, son of Uri, who was appointed by Moses to oversee the design and construction of the Tabernacle. The Adelaide International was a biennial art exhibition held in at the Samstag Museum of Art in Adelaide, South Australia, in partnership with the Adelaide Festival of the Arts, from 2010 to 2014. The series featured a range of contemporary visual works from artists based outside Australia. Maha Maamoun, is an Egyptian award-winning visual artist and curator based in Cairo. She is a founding board member of the Contemporary Image Collective (CiC), an independent non-profit space for art and culture founded in Cairo in 2004. She also co-founded the independent publishing platform called Kayfa-ta in 2013. She was awarded the Jury Prize for her film Domestic Tourism II at Sharjah Biennal 9 (2009). Maamoun is a fellow of the Academy of the Arts of the World.

Rasha Salti is a researcher, writer, producer, and curator of art and film. She lives and works between Beirut and Berlin. Salti co-curated many film programs at public institutions, including ArteEast, Lincoln Center and Museum of Modern Art in New York, and collaborated with film festivals as a programmer, such as the Abu Dhabi International Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival. Hourani is known for his contributions to the contemporary art scene in Ramallah and his visual works focusing on themes of Palestinian struggle and resistance.

Sandi Hilal is a Palestinian architect, writer, and researcher. Hilal was Head of the Infrastructure and Camp Improvement Program in the West Bank at UNRWA from 2008 to 2014.
