Rafael Khakimov (born June 4, 1990) is a Russian professional ice hockey goaltender. He is currently playing with Neftyanik Almetievsk of the Supreme Hockey League (VHL).

Khakimov made his Kontinental Hockey League debut playing with Metallurg Novokuznetsk during the 2014–15 KHL season. [1]

From the league's inception in 2008 there have always been team changes in the Kontinental Hockey League between seasons, as some new teams have joined the league or others have left it. There is no promotion/relegation system with the VHL in place like there was with the Superleague and Vysshaya Liga. The number of teams in the league stayed at 24 throughout the first two seasons. In the third season the number of teams was reduced to 23 because Budivelnyk, a team that planned to join the league, dropped out before the start of the season. Initially, Lev Poprad replaced Budivelnyk to retain the number of teams at 24. However, Lev was excluded by the KHL before the start of that season, but would be accepted into the league for 2011–12. The league plans to expand this number for future seasons.

Rafael Batyrshin is a Russian professional ice hockey defenseman who currently plays for Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). As a journeyman blueliner, Batyrshin has formerly played in the KHL with HC Vityaz, Atlant Moscow Oblast, HC Sibir Novosibirsk, Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Ak Bars Kazan. 2011–12 KHL season Sports season

The 2011–12 KHL season was the fourth season of the Kontinental Hockey League. The regular season began with the Opening Cup game on 7 September 2011, but because of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl plane crash, which occurred during the first period of the Cup game and killed all but one member of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team, further play was delayed until 12 September 2011. The tragedy forced Lokomotiv Yaroslavl to cancel their participation in the KHL season. The Opening Cup was renamed the Lokomotiv Cup in honor of those lost in the tragedy. The regular season ended on 26 February 2012 and the following playoffs ended on 25 April.
