Raha is a small town in Nagaon district of Assam, India, situated near the National Highway 37. The river Kolong and Kopili flows near Raha. Raha is also situated near to Chaparmukh, a small town popularly known for Chaparmukh junction, one of the prominent railway stations in Nagaon district.

Raha is part of Nowgong (Lok Sabha constituency). Present MLA of Raha Vidhan Sabha constituency is Sashi Kanta Das from Congress.
Gopinath Bordoloi was a politician and Indian independence activist and politician who served as the 1st Chief Minister of Assam from 1946 to 1950. He was also the chairman of North-East Frontier Tribal areas and Assam Excluded and Partially Excluded Areas Sub-Committee. He was a follower of the Gandhian principle of non-violence as a political tool. Due to his unselfish dedication towards Assam and its people, the then Governor of Assam Jayram Das Doulatram conferred him with the title "Lokpriya".

Assam Sahitya Sabha conferred its highest honorary title Sahityacharyya on him in 2007.He also participated in the Quit India Movement of 1942 held in Kaliabor town in the Nagaon district of Assam.
